We stayed at Yarlam for 2 nights last week. The weather at Lachung was extremely cold with the night temperature dropping to -3 deg. Though the hotel provides us with heater, it is really cold for the heater to be effective across the room. Thank God for the Bed warmer they provide. With it ON the entire night, we didn't even have to make use of the blanket to cover ourselves. Considering I had a bad cold the day the day I came to the resort, without the bed warmer, I am sure I would have ended with a fever. Generator was ON every time the power went off. The food is tasty but choice is less which I don't blame them considering it didn't look like the whole resort was occupied. We had a la carte dinner one day and forced to take Buffet the second night. The food is very reasonably priced. Staff is very friendly and courteous. Grounds are well maintained. Overall a luxurious place in a relatively remote location.

Room Tip: Deluxe View rooms (top floor ones) have a good view of the mountains from the corridor

The only decent place to stay in Lachung is Yarlam Resort.
The hotel provides a very beautiful view of the valley. It’s pretty much peaceful all around.
The rooms are pretty spacious, but very dimly lit. The room has all the basic amenities. A large comfortable bed, with heating pads. Room heaters are provided and hot water bags are also given to the guests. There is 24hrs hot water supply in the bathrooms.
The food is freshly prepared. But I wouldn’t call it great In terms of taste. Plastic water bottles, including packaged drinking water bottles are not allowed in Lachung. But the hotel provides clean boiled water to all guests.
The reception staff as well as the restaurant staff are very helpful.
A decent hotel providing all basic amenities. Can’t expect more in such a remote place.

Though the hotel is little far from main town Lachung but the hotel is best and one can see a great view from the hotel...... the hotel has warm rooms with nice restaurant, spa and a wide reception area where one can enjoy reading books from library.

The room we stayed in (best category available then) was large, comfortable and clean though poorly lit. The only window of the room looks into the corridor having access to other rooms results in having to keep window blinds drawn leading to further darkness. In the freezing cold of February with -10 deg cel in the night, the hotel staff had been instructed not to keep backup power on and were helpless (which would have enabled heating to be on) which was a big let down and contrary to 24 hr power backup advertised. There is also no wifi in the hotel as advertised. The library is nice and the staff and service is very good and staff courteous. The food was also very well prepared. Debated on whether to put a 2 star on the rating (because of power backup and wifi) but the staff service and helpfulness made it into a 3. If some things can be taken care of it would be a decent property.

Room Tip: try and get a room which does not have a corridor outside the windows.

Decent full service hotel in the middle of a remote yet very popular tourist destination. However, feels expensive compared to its counterparts elsewhere in India, but given what they provide and where they do, I don't mind paying. We need more of them in more Lachungs, to discover all the treasures of our country like North Sikkim. So, enjoy their sincere hospitality, see one of the most beautiful parts of the world and go back with memories of a lifetime. Though from a professional standpoint, they still have miles to go. They should never refuse a bonfire !!
