A huge Thank you to David & Sylvia. My son and I received a wonderful warm Shetland welcome on our arrival.
The accommodation was just spot on. Couldn’t fault a single thing. Perfect size for my son and I and had everything you could possibly need for week, or longer. The welcome basket was more like a mini shop, with 3 cereals, marmalade, bread, tea, coffee, milk, butter and orange juice!
The kitchen was very well supplied with utensils and cooking equipment and a fold away table and chairs for our meals.
The beds were very comfy and the whole place was lovely and clean. The large TV was a nice bonus after a long day exploring Shetland. We could just relax and zone out!
David and Sylvia left us to it, but were there for advice or tips on places to see or directions, which was much appreciated.
The area, Burra Hamnavoe is perfect for a central base to get out and about around the Island to see all the wonderful places and sights Shetland offers. There are just too many great things to do to mention here. A visit to Meal Beach - approx 10 min drive from Kell’s is amazing; small, quiet, white sand and clear waters. Jarlshof is another must and the Croft House Museum.
Everyone we met on our trip was very friendly.
We would love to come back to Kell’s for another stay and see more of this amazing place.
Thank you again.
We received a really friendly welcome from our host David upon arrival straight off the overnight boat from Orkney. He made great suggestions as to what Island sights to go and explore.
The Kells accommodation was great. Clean, warm and comfy. It provided us with everything we needed. The location in Hamnavoe allowed us to visit everything from the very north, to the very south of the mainland.
The coastal walking was spectacular. Stunning caves, blow holes, arches and stacks.
The tombolo to St Ninian's Isle was a favourite.
Will have to come back again!!
Silvia and David are fantastic hosts. We had good fun chatting with them while we shared excellent tea and superb breaded haddock. They provided us with some local anecdotes and very useful information about the whereabouts.
The apartment is very beautiful, warm and has all the facilities you could need.
It’s situated in Hamnavoe, a picturesque fishermen village shored in a voe, guarded by a nice lighthouse.
At Kells we were near all the places we wanted to visit, a lot of uncanny walking routes and the 2 capitals; Lerwick and the ancient one, Scalloway.
The unpredictable weather gifted us with some sun almost every day.
In Shetland you can’t be more than 3 miles away from sea and the friendly seals and you will experience the freedom of finding your own path through the countryside.
Kells is a lovely home and David made us very welcome. Unfortunately the weather was not very kind to us, but we still enjoyed our stay.
I would recommend the apartment for two to four adults as adequate, but it would be a bit cramped if there were more - especially as there is no room for a dining table - but eating out locally in Scalloway is ideal. David was very helpful in advising on amenities in the local area and the walking is wonderful (weather permitting).
All in all, we had a lovely stay and would certainly consider booking there again.
stayed at this beautiful cottage on our family holiday in Shetland. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and cozy. Very peaceful and close to the main town and all amenities. perfect base to stay and visit all parts of Shetland.welcome pack was very thoughtful and useful. it was just myself ,wife and 2 kids and all enjoyed the place. Had all the facilities needed and very happy with the place, would definitely book again if I visit the shetlands.
The apartment is in a lovely quiet village, just right, so you don't have to drive to far to get to some of the main holiday attractions. It is compact & bijou with all the neccessary amenities, would highly recommend it to anyone.
