If you're looking for a ryokan with a beautiful view of Mt.Fuji and kawaguchiko (lake) from a personal onsen, THIS is the place you want to stay! From kawaguchiko station they will come get you in a shuttle (go to the tourist information area next to the station and they will call the shuttle for you). Once you get there the minute you walk into the place you're greeted with the utmost respect and treated like royalty. Once they sit you down they serve you green tea and treats as they go over your stay. You get two time slots for dinner (6PM and 6:50PM) while breakfast is anytime between 7:30-8:30. Food is plentiful with multiple courses and delicious! Our first night for our main course we had shabu shabu and the second night we had steak (we had our dinners with sake which was extra, as are all the drinks). Breakfast was a traditional japanese breakfast with fish, rice, etc. In between breakfast and dinner they have coffee/tea/drink services at set times. After dinner we also liked to use their free massage chairs.

We did not use the public onsen in the ryokan because we booked a room with a personal onsen on the 2nd night (the first night was a regular room). Both rooms were very spacious, clean, and had an amazing view of Mount Fuji. At times we couldn't see Mount Fuji because of the clouds, but we were lucky and we had many hours of a perfect cloudless view! Watching Mt.Fuji from our personal onsen was absolutely amazing and was worth every yen we spent on the room.

As an FYI we weren't sure what to do with the yukata (clothes) they provided us at first. It seems like most people wear the yukata, socks, and slippers throughout the ryokan all day long even to dinner. There were people who wore normal clothes but I would say most wore the yukata.

Finally on your check-out day you can have the hotel shuttle/bus take you back to kawaguchiko station between 8:30-11 (leaves every 30 minutes).

Honestly this was the highlight of our honeymoon to Japan. The staff was super polite, the facilities were clean, the food was delicious, and the view of Mt.Fuji from a personal onsen is unbeatable. We walked around the lake and there are MANY ryokans but this place definitely has one of the best views of Mt.Fuji.

We stayed here because the other place we had booked (Konansou) was booked for the second night we wanted. We stayed here before Konansou not really expecting much. Our highlight was going to be Konansou. But this has faired a million times better. We had a higher end room and it was so so worth it.
Positives:
- the room size. We've never stayed in a hotel room this size anywhere in the world. It was huge. My husband is pretty tall and so he loved having the space.
- the view. The view alone was worth the money we paid. The end of the room opens up into a panoramic view of Mt Fuji. Completely unobstructed views. And if you get lucky (which we did) if you wake up early enough when the lake it calm and its a clear day, you can see Fuji's reflection in the water.
-amenities. There's lots to do in the hotel that exudes relaxation. Everthing points towards fuji so you never don't have a view of the mountain. There's a relaxation lounge where they serve free tea and coffee during certain times, there are massage chairs that you can use and the onsens are spectacular. Definitely worth it.
-the staff are very helpful. I'm vegetarian and my husband doesnt eat beef so they made special food for us. I'll come on to that later.
-we wanted to hire bicycles on our first day and within 5 mins we had some deliveried by a sister company.

Negatives:
- we should have extended our stay here and not gone to Konansou!! Its crap in comparison.
- dinner was nice. It was 'higher end' Japanese dining, so many courses that we did end up being full but the food lacked flavour. It was quite bland but maybe that's just our taste buds wanting spice and flavour.
-breakfast was a traditional Japanese breakfast. Im not a fan of rice and miso soup for breakfast but if you want that experience then it's great. We would have liked tea and coffee at breakfast. Unfortunately we felt the service lacked in the morning and when we wanted it there was no one to ask even for a glass of water. Luckily in the lounge they had coffee and tea. I would have liked a continental option for the breakfast, even toast, or fruit.

All in all, a brilliant experience. The view is just worth the money and the fact that everywhere you go in the hotel you can see my fuji is a bonus. If your choosing between here and Konansou, take it from me, you need to stay here.

We primarily booked this room for the view of Mt Fuju which we got plenty of from our room. Once we arrived into our room it was classic Japanese style living -first time for us, over the next few hours we admired everything about our room. It was very spacious, beds were very comfortable & the overall mood was good. Bathroom had a urinal along with a toilet, it was a highlight, shower was a granite basin with a shower-head, good pressure. Heavy price for this, and the dinner was classic Japanese also -great experience.

Room Tip: everyone gets a view of fuji, high floor!

We stayed here as a treat on one of the last days of our honeymoon. Anyone booking here knows it’s not in any way cheap so a bit of luxury!

The arrival and greeting was formal and excellent and the room was stunning with amazing views of Fuji - really one of the best views from any hotel I’ve ever stayed in!

The food was of a very high standard and plentiful and they made a fuss of us for our honeymoon which was lovely - and funny as one of the staff dressed up as Mount Fuji and sang a song.

I do however have to make a moan as when we arrived we asked for dinner at 7.30 and were told the kitchen closed at 9.15 so that was loads of time.

The meal was fantastic and the service very friendly but we were rushed through our meal and you could tell the staff wanted to reset for breakfast. It made us feel pretty uncomfortable and for nearly £400 a night I expect to be given time and space to eat especially as it was only 8.30pm when they started cleaning up and spraying tables next to us. We felt rushed and awkward and went to bed.

I strongly advise the staff are briefed not to do this again as spoilt our only night there a bit.

You can see by my other reviews I generally don’t moan and always see the positive but in this case where something is so expensive I have to take away one star and give them four out of five.

Otherwise a real piece of Japanese luxury.

Really amazing views of Mount Fuji reflected in the lake opposite hotel. All the rooms face this way. Beautifully appointed traditional rooms. Clothes supplied for meals and everyone wears them. Lovely tasty healthy food served by wonderful staff. Extremely clean EVERYWHERE. One of the best stays we’ve had in Japan.
