This is a bit off the main drag, down a quiet road from the square, but it gets very busy, which is a testament to the quality of the food. It is efficiently run by Dena and her son Stelios, so you never have to wait long for a table. Stelios does things the old fashioned Greek way by inviting you into the kitchen and taking you through everything that is on offer. "The best stifado in western Crete" he announces. "you can smell it from the square." He's not far wrong, but whatever you choose, whether it's the stifado, the kleftico, the pork with peppers, the moussaka, the special beef,or whatever else he has cooked that day, it's all excellent. The chips are good too, as is the house red.
