For $45 a night we rented one of Fredi and Nicole's two bungalows. They are charming and super clean. Ours had two double beds, bath and kitchenette. They have lovely grounds with mango, banana, cashew, citrus, almond and guava trees. The highlight though is the breakfast ($6 per person). Fredi served a couple of types of homemade bread, fresh squeezed orange juice, cheeses, German style wurst, something like dried carpaccio that Fredi, who was raised on a Swiss farm makes himself, a platter of fresh mango, pineapple, melon and other fruit, peach and guava preserves, eggs and coffee or tea. I think his juice ruined us. We'll never really enjoy another glass of orange juice after drinking his, it's that good. One morning he asked if we wanted cereal, which didn't excite anyone, but it was SOOOO good. He puts together some oats, nuts, dates, and applesauce, bakes it on low, then mixes it with yogurt, quark and fresh fruit. Mmmmm. One evening he grilled bratwurst for us for dinner (well worth the price.) We enjoyed the Costa Rican food also, but I'd like to go back just for his breakfast. We had planned to go to Poas, but every day it was clouded over, and Fredi suggested an itinerary for us, mapped it out and printed photos of the turns to make since we drove ourselves. He will also be your guide if you need one.
As a bonus, he has two sweet dogs that you will want to take home.

Nicole and Freddie make that stay very pleasant, easy and interesting by proposing trips around Atenas. They serve a lovely breaksfast. We do feel at home with a so nice surrounding of nature, beauty and a so perfect climate there. And the bungalows are very cosy, quiet, ideal for a good sleep. Don't miss it.
