Booked the Moulin des Templiers for an all too brief stop over on the way back to Dieppe.
Was delighted to find this small cosy little hotel set in the most beautiful setting just a short drive from the A6 close to Avallon
Arrived on a quite Sunday evening and were warmly received and shown to our small but very nicely refurbished room.
Super bathroom also recently refurbished and fitted with a decent size bath with shower over.
Resturant was closed (as every Sunday) but was directed to several restaurants within a short drive.
In any evening I would suggest driving the 10 minutes to Vezelay which is possibly the most beautiful town I have ever seen (see photos) and unsurprisingly listed as a UNESCO heritage location.
Breakfast (€10 pp) was good value and very French i.e. Fresh croissants, fantastic bread Normandy butter plus preserves and ham/cheese with plenty of good coffee & juice etc.
All in all a delightful and excellent value small hotel (paid €50 p/n via Expedia)
Will certainly stay again when next doing the North/South run.

A lovely rural, quiet, beautiful setting for a wonderful charming little hotel. The rooms are modem, clean and very comfortable with large windows to be able to breath in the fresh air. The staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you. The meals (choice of land or river) in the evening are rustic regional fair - served on beautiful pottery and in a rustic barn with the smell of the open fire burning gently. The wine, also local is perfect. Breakfast is simple but what more could you want than fresher than fresh croissants, bread, cheese, ham and jams with steaming hot coffee and milk or fresh fruit juices. My husband and I visited for our anniversary, and we couldn't have been happier with our choice of hotel to celebrate.

A moulin by the banks of the Cousin river its rooms are newly decorated though rather small and bathrooms very attractive. The staff are very friendly and the breakfasts delicious. The star was the simple but lovely evening meal which hit the spot after a long journey. The local red wine a bit rough.

Visited on the 26th Friday. Although the location is very good an the rooms are OK, newly refurbished with good en suite, they are very small reminding me of my hostelling days. The major disappointment was turning up after a long day to be told that we could not have anything to eat at the "hotel", even though in the booking.com under important information it says that "a light meal with local produce can be ordered at an additional cost".

For those wanting peace and quiet in a beautiful natural setting, this is a wonderful place in the Avallon/ Pontaubert area during the warmer months. Reception and waiting staff were very pleasant, and Gregory was particularly helpful with his knowledge of local produce and activities. We had a room which, while not large, was adequate and the bathroom was newly renovated and very nice. The evening meal was quite casual and those wanting a more comprehensive meal would have been able to stroll to the nearby village.
