We only spent one night here on our last night in Thailand, the hotel is beautiful I loved the deep bath in our room 112, The food is what everyone says absolutely fantastic from afternoon tea, the evening sweets, Dinner and breakfast. we were given a late check out but had to move to another room which I think is above and beyond (they could have said no to the late check out rather than having to clean a second room) there were renovations happening when we were there and I think it made the staff a little nervous but the hotel did try there best to minimise the disruption (and it should be done now) overall a great dessert to finish our time in Thailand on.

We stayed at the beach front suite on 2nd floor. Excellent room with private veranda and hammock...you can sleep with lapping sound of sea. Service is good but not intrusive. The entire team was very sweet and helpful including housekeeping ladies who folded my lotus bouquet but I think GM is not so friendly. As honeymooners we were given complimentary champagne and floral bed and bath setup which was very much appreciated. Our every request was attended to with good initiative. Rooms too dark. In house van not functioning well took 15mins to start. Food is too expensive for daily consumption but reasonably good. We wish to dine in house mostly but menu rather limited. Could include some noodles,pasta and affordable pizzas for lunch. Can't take fancy meats or the same imported salmon or cods all the time. Rather wish to have local fresh ingredients. Took our wedding photoshoot here. Lovely theme of bygone romance. Agree should pay attention to beach maintenance. Overall clean but narrow beach. An excellent gateway for those seeking peAce and romance. Would return.

My other comment on koh samui: if the tourism industry continue to rip off tourist on taxi we would not return or recommend the island. Who would want to pay for fares which cost equivalent to the entire already hiked up price meal? Average fare for cab per day is thb1600! I've been traveling to some of the most expensive city like shanghai and Hong kong and I would say for the price of fine restaurant in shanghai I'm paying the same here....but minus the standard. Bangkok fine restaurants are half the price of koh samui. We got quite sick of going anywhere because we are sick of negotiating with shArks on cab fares. Knowing the already overpriced journey 'standard' fare is thb 200 they would ask for thb400 for a 1.5km ride. We also canceled most tourist spots we planned to visit. Will tourism flourish here? The community is also not caring for their beach. They should know that this commodity is dipping in standards

Great hotel experience

As for location: situated in the outskirts of Bangrak. You will need to travel by taxi or rent transportation. Taxi to fishermans village is around 200 bth. Chaweng between 300-400 bth. (Both one way). While just next to the main road the hotel itself is like a calm oasis when you close the door to the road. The beach is fairly small on this part of the island. Chaweng beach is much more exotic but also much more crowded.

As for the hotel: very clean and stylish hotel. Only 12 rooms with different decor. Stayed in a beach front suite with small private beach - room 111. This is one of the best rooms. Facing the sea (obviously) and the furthest away from the road. Assume that rooms facing the road may be somewhat noisy. Also the rooms in the ground floor are quite dark with limited inflow of daylight. So recommend that you stay on second floor or room 111. Our suite was big and well planned. Charmingly furnished. Cleaning is very efficient and they are truly very kind. The service is excellent from Check-in to check-out. They will assist brilliantly with good advice on restaurants and what to see, help you with bookings, inform on prices etc. Could simply not be better. The owner could put in some more lamps in the rooms.

The restaurant: very great gourmet food. Had breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. Breakfast is fairly expensive if not included in your stay. It is however very good. We found a very nice bakery in the beginning of Bangrak only ten minuttes away - French bakery. Made some of the best croissants that I have tasted even though I lived in the croissant hardcore land of Europe. Only around 30 b a piece. Lunch at resto is very good and reasonably priced. Dinner much more expensive but reflects prices of a good gourmet resto. Cocktails are fairly expensive. Will set you back almost 800 b for two.

Common areas: the pool is small but very nice. As small hotel not to much noise. The furniture around the pool could benefit from an update from the colonial style with modern ones. The same goes for the beach where it would be great with round beds to sleep in. Beach is small at this part of the island. While they continuously clean around the pool they are less attentive with respect to the beach. It is however not dirty but sometimes just in need of having removed some trash from the sea.
