We stayed in a pool villa with a walkway out to the sea. It was a great room with some nice touches, although we did deal with ants in the room.
Staff offers typical great Thai service. The breakfast is unbelievably good; one of the highest quality breakfasts we've ever had anywhere. Service staff at pool is super.
The issue we had is that the hotel doesn't pick up the rubbish that the tide brings onto the beach areas around the pool villas each day. The beach in front of the lobby is impeccable (although the water is not close to crystal clear), but I do not recommend the pool villas. We wore swim shoes around the villa area because we saw broken glass, rusty metal, and, most concerning, hypodermic needles. It was no bueno.
We've stayed at five 5-star properties in different parts of Samui. If your idea of an idyllic beach vacation involves crystal clear water and white sand, try the Phi Phi Islands, Trat Islands, or Koh Samet. Harder to get to, but Samui is overdeveloped at this point. The beaches are not doing well.
