My husband and I needed a quiet get away with the dogs. Artists Retreat was the perfect home - private on a dead end road looking over the waters edge. We loved the sound. The home was spacious and had lots of window to look out The home was cozy by the woodstove on the snowy days we spent there. The kitchen was large and well stocked, but lacked a few of the basics (like salt). The deck over looks the water and the steep stairs go directly to beach, with a hand crank. The major disappointment to us (which is why a 4 star) was the lack of cleanliness and quality control. Dust, ants, cob webs about the house, with a slight past smokers smell. We are camping people, so we got around that personally, but for price we paid for cleaning, we felt it should have been cleaner. Overall this place is very cool and with a little quality control, could really shine. I would recommend.
great beach, nice walk to local store, quiet area, plenty of room in kitchen for team cooking/baking. relaxing areas. kids made a tent with simple furniture in master bedroom, great place to play safely.

We really enjoyed this house and the way it's decorated. Note to families that the three bedrooms are a) upstairs (this is the nicest one with a view + bathroom en suite), b) one downstairs without much view, and a bathroom around the corner that also serves as the general bathroom for all, and c) one downstairs, outside, and around the corner, without much view - like a separate apartment, with a mini kitchen, en suite. For our group it was pretty much perfect. Don't let your friends pull the stairs up after you've gone down to the beach... come up with some kind of a signal or object you leave on the stairs, so that won't happen. :) (I managed to climb up the rock wall on one side only to find it would have been easier on the other side.) Beautiful beach for finding rocks...
