“Great hotel, lovely service.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2012

Booked this as part of a honeymoon package staying for 5 nights. On arrival, we were upgraded to a one-bedroom apartment which more than met our expectations. The whole experience was wonderful - staff friendly and helpful, breakfast was great, the pools and beach (at Cape Panwa) were also lovely. Plenty of excellent restaurants locally - the Sea Breeze, the Sawasdee and Live Indian delivered great food at good value prices. We went to Keang Lay at the corner of the sea road twice and were really impressed with both the food and value for money. The local aquarium was worth a visit for a couple of quid - there is a turtle sanctuary out in the gardens which is lovely to see and you can walk out on the pier to get a good view of the bay. All in all a fabulous experience and I would hope to return one day,

My husband and I have recently returned from a thirty day stay at the Kantary Bay Hotel. This was our third visit. We would once again like to praise the friendly and hard working staff that keep the hotel a pleasure to stay in. As always the hotel was spotless and our room was comfortable with everything in it needed for a months holiday.
I would like in this review to mention the gardeners and gardens. Our room overlooked the gardens and I often watched the gardeners. They worked so hard to keep everything immaculate and yet were always cheerful. The same must be said of the gardeners at Cape Panwa Hotel.
If you want to stay in a comfortable friendly hotel with a beautiful garden in a quiet area with lots of good places to eat this is for you. There is no beach at the hotel but a bus will take you to Cape Panwa Hotel every ten minutes to use their beautiful private beach.Perfect
We will be returning to this delightful hotel next year.

Spent 8 nights at this hotel 13-21 march 2012.Upon arrival we were greeted by the very friendly staff.I have been to Thailand many times but my friends were on their first visit. The room allocated to me (339) was of the standard I had booked and paid for ,but my friends were allocated 330 which was not .It was pokey,no view apart from corrugated plastic covering the walkway. After a discussion with the manager they were moved to 331 the following day. This was to our satisfaction and was settled amicably.
Breakfast was good ,served by good quality staff.
The shuttle to Cape Panwa was a good experience and the facilities there were excellent.Certainly welcoming after encountering Heart attack hill.
Just round the corner from Kantary Bay is the Sea Breeze restaurant. This we found to be of our liking both for quality and price.Beef with Garlic and pepper being our very favourite dish, but all we had was good with very friendly owner and staff in attendance.
The Kantary Bay is a good hotel but the older block we were in is in need of sprucing up but is value for money. There is a nightly market outside the hotel and some nice little shops in the complex itself.
Would certainly return.

My Partner and I stayed in Phuket for 9 days at the end of our Thailand trip and we opted for the Kantary Bay Hotel. We were advised this was away from the loud nightclubs and general hustle and bustle of the island and would be a very peaceful area to finish off. How true this was.
The hotel is quite far a journey from the airport so it is probably best to arrange a shuttle to and from before you go, as a taxi would work out more. It was located in Cape Panwa, right on the ocean front in the corner of the island. We arrived mid-afternnon and the room was ready for us at arrival. We were pleasantly surprised. We knew it was supposedly a quiet area and the lesser of two hotels (its bigger sister is just around and up the hill) so were a little apprehensive, even though had read good reviews on here, what the room would be like. It was more like an apartment. The room was very spacious, with plenty of clothing space and although one room, broken into 3 parts almost. As we first walked in on our left was a kitchen, very small but we had not expected one at all, so was an added bonus. Opposite here was the bathroom, with bath and shower, of which the latter was decent. Back in the room the middle section consisted of a lounge. We had a sofa, TV, table for eating and was quite roomy and open. This is was completed at the end by the beds and the 'bedroom' although there was no door and just linked on. Beds were a good size and comfortable. Outside we did also have a balcony. We were on the second floor and our view was stunning, out across the Indian ocean and onto a few of the hundreds of small hilly and shrub filled islands.
The hotel did supply 2 free bottles of water a day for free and there was also free internet via wi-fi (you have to get a new card every day to login) which was vey effective. Being behind the reception, our wi-fi actually worked in the room which was very handy. The room was very clean and was cleaned every day we stayed.
The hotel had 2 pools, one on the roof on the building far to the right (as looking over reception and over the ocean) and one just off from reception. Both were fantastic temperatures and a real pleasure to swim in. The 'roof' pool was quite busy being a prime spot for the sun bathers but the other pool was very quiet and rarley a quarter full. There was also a very small gym, with one of each of the main machines and was always empty, so using it should not be a problem.
There was a bar out the front for refreshments, which could be taken back to the pool and a couple of restaurants. We only used the main one for breakfast. There was a good selection, from fruits, pastries, cereal to a variety of cooked foods too. It was always good and we did not become bored of what was on offer in the time we stayed. The receptionists were always helpful and very pleasant. As I have made reference to already, there is a sister hotel, of which you can use all their facilities. We did go up there for a look around and looked a very plush hotel but never found the need to use any of the facilities, as we were happy with what ours offered and trips we did kept us busy enough.
The surrounding area was very tranquil and peaceful. To the left was the aquarium, with not a lot in it but was only aboyt a £1 to visit. Straight ahead of the hotel and down the road was the view of the ocean and mini islands. Right down to the right was a small beach, all very pretty to look at.
There was a small supermarket next to the hotel (just to the right as you come out) which was very useful for everyday things, particularly drinks. The nearest pharmacy was about a 1km away but easy enough to walk to. As for eating there were a number of restaurants in the local vacinity. A few so good that apart from the couple of times we were elsewhere on the island we were happy to re-use. The Indian restaurant and Sea Breeze restaurant (around the corner up the hill) were both excellent. However the best and if you wanted a table would have to turn up before 7 or reserve (after 7 we never saw an empty table) was the restaurant immediately outside the hotel to the right as you come out. Very decent food and at an excellent price. Just seeing how busy this place always was, was a clear indication of how good it was. It also did take away throughout the day, which we used for sandwiches to take back to the pool on a couple of occasions.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. It was basic but had everything you needed, was very quiet, clean and the little area it was based and the views were magnificent. If you want the busy markets and particularly the busy nightlife this is not for you. Taxis can easily be caught to these areas for a visit or two but would work out quite a lot if did everyday!

My wife and I spent 8 weeks at Kantary Bay from mid January and really enjoyed our stay.On arrival, the reception staff fully lived up to their reputation for a warm welcome and they(and Customer Relations Manager Boonsong) could not have been more friendly and helpful throughout the holiday. We had a 1 bedroom apartment which was very comfortable and exceptionally spacious-important for a long stay. The housekeeping was first class, the room was always immaculately clean. The quality and choice at breakfast was as good as we have encountered anywhere and the breakfast room staff were friendly and efficient.
Most guests seemed to take the shuttle to Cape Panwa during the day but we preferred the rooftop pool because of its view over the bay and its proximity to room facilities(code for the fridge-ain't Chang great?!)
In the evenings,we usually ate outside the hotel at Live India(where Anita and Avi provided great food and excellent service),The Sea Breeze(where the food and staff were great but we had to wait a while on a couple of occasions). Both are just round the corner from the hotel,2 or 3 minutes walk.We also used Jame's,which is a short(3 minutes)but very steep walk up the hill out the back gate.Ott the waiter was great company and the food was terrific.Inside the hotel, the Leam Panwa served excellent Thai food at very reasonable prices and the service was top rate.
The Cape Panwa area is very quiet (which is why we chose Kantary Bay) so we punctuated our stay with trips on the local bus (25 bahts pp from the Aquarium) to Phuket Town for shopping. We also went on trips to Phi Phi Islands,James Bond Island, both good days out,and the half day Phuket island tour, all of which we booked with the lovely Nam,whose kiosk is on the corner on the front outside the hotel and who gives good rates.
We should also mention Tony at Star Tailors and his colleague Hari, also just round the corner from the hotel. We both, but particularly my wife, restocked our holiday clothing and were very pleased with the trousers, shirts and dresses we got.If you want to update your wardrobe,Tony is you man!
All in all,a very enjoyable stay at an hotel which has a character and atmosphere all of its own.

The room my sister and I shared as in the bayside wing of the hotel. It came with an en-suite kitchenette and a living room area. There was also an outdoor patio with a hot tub (that unfortunately wasn't used in our stay). The layout of the hotel can be a little confusing at the start and some of the common areas looked a bit tired. The room itself was clean, spacious and everything in perfect working order. The downside to this is that Wifi is only available in the common areas, but thankfully, because we were on the ground floor near a common area, we had a wifi signal as well. The location is a double-edged sword, while it is secluded and the view from the elevated walkways gorgeous, being out of the normal touristy areas means that taxis are alot more expensive and so are the souvenirs.

The hotel caters mainly to middle-aged tourists and families so there isn't a ton of nightlife happening - which was good for me, because I prefer more quiet vacations.

Best part about the hotel are the facilities, you get to use Kantary Bay's facilities as well as its sister Cape Panwa's facilities. Cape Panwa is about 3 minutes away by tuktuk, which Kantary Bay provides. CP has a gorgeous pool, a cool tram to bring you down to the beach and for ladies - a blissful spa.

Room Tip: A ground floor in the bayside wing will enable you easy access to the main road and Wifi.
