We stayed for one night in June and enjoyed the room and its balcony, plus the really great breakfast the next morning. Rooms have ensuites and there is a private lounge/microwave for guests to use. Our hosts were very friendly, and took time to explain where to eat / how to order amazing takeaways from the local butcher etc. The surroundings are peaceful, being a few km's out of Sare, so a car is needed.

Young Australian couple, we only stayed one night in mid June 2012 but have a very positive memory of our stay here.

The room is clean and cosy, with a quaint balcony looking out onto the gardens and the hills across the fields. More than anything, it feels like you're staying with your own uncle and aunty. Michel and Fanny are very warm people and lovely to their guests and treat you like family, in fact when we couldn't work out how to locate a nearby restaurant Michel promptly jumped in his own car and lead us to the restaurant so we didn't get lost! Fanny's homemade cooking is delicious for breakfast, she makes her own jams from their garden and her chocolate cake was to die for. We'd definitely recommend this place to anyone staying or even stopping over in Sare.

As a French teacher I have always looked for 'chambres d'hôte' in France. This half term my wife and I have struck gold with La Maison Kuluxka and its owners Michel and Fanny Ferraz. We loved the setting, the house itself and especially the warm welcome of our hosts. They went out of their way to be helpful - we loved the breakfast with Fanny's home made jams, 'gateau basque' yogurt, fresh fruit and deliciously fresh croissants and pains au chocolat. Michel planned our days - we especially liked the 'petit train' of La Rhune and the pretty village of Aïnhoa - not to mention the 'aperitif' they invited us to, just over the border in a Spanish village. No hesitation in awarding La Maison Kuluxka 5 stars! Can't wait to go back - just 25 minutes from Biarritz airport!
Merci mille fois.

First, Michel and Fanny go out of their way to orient and help you have a great stay. We got great itineraries and maps for our day trips. We arrived late at night in the rain and Michel found us a pizzeria that was still open and guided us there in his own car! He also went online and found me the best route to our next destination. On the day of our departure, our front tire blew out backing out of the driveway in the pouring rain! Michel jumped right in and helped us figure out how to change the tire. Merci!

Second, the room was simple but with a comfortable bed and a great balcony. The bathroom is luxurious and is equipped with a very large tub and hand shower. Breakfasts are generous and accented by tasty home-made jams and jellies from strawberry to melon - apricot is my favorite!

Third, Kuluxka is in a great location as its very close to the Atlantic, great beaches like Ibarritz and picturesque but busy coastal towns like Biarritz and St. Jean de Luz. If you want a change of pace, you are surrounded by the rolling green Basque country and towns like Sare, Ascain, Ainhoa, Sanperre, Urdux etc. Lots of music, dance and pelota! If you want to go hiking, there are the Pyrenees and the Chemin St. Jacques. And Spain, Pamplona, St. Sebastian and the Spanish Basque country is just an hour away!
