Me and my fam (Total of 9 pers) stayed in this wonderfull house for 3 weeks (jul/aug 2014).
I can not say anything else than that this is a great house to stay while in Barbados. It was spacious enough for our group. We all loved the fact that all bedrooms have their own bathroom/toilet. The house is very well maintained and everything in it is of excellent quality. We loved the plunge pool which was very nice to cool down after a hot day. There are 3 veranda's where we could sit comfortably with our whole group. Enough sunbeds and chairs and tables. The house was very very clean which we all liked thanks to the nice housekeeper Sylvia, who was always there to give advice and tips. She attents the house twice a week. The manager Pauline was also always great and very responsive every time we had questions or whatever. She was always there. Thanks Sylvia dn Pauline! The house is in St James on the West Coast of Barbados, a very nice and quiet area. We loved the fact that we were statig in Barbados especially after we visited St Lawrence Gap on the east coast where it is much much more busy and loud. Even my daughter and cousin of 26 years were glad that we were stayibg at the west coast. The house is just 5-7 minuten walk to the nice Alleynes beach. The owner Richard Cort was outstanding from the first email contact till the lastnday of our holiday. He called several times from UK to check if everything was ok. He was always very clear and responsive during our communications and always willing to think along and very flexible. Thanks Richard for letting us stay in your house with our family of 9. You should urge guests to place reviews after their stay at your house because your house needs to be known here on Tripadvisor and yes we will certainly recommend Whispering Palms to friends and family, to anyone.
As for Barbados... Barbados was great, we loved everything on Barbados, the food, the people, everything! We felt very very safe while in Barbados, we went from West Coast to south, to North and East and felt always safe. We travelled a lot but Barbados is the only country we have visited where licentie plates of hired cars are marker with an H (hired). Can you imagine doing that in another country where you don't want to be seen as a tourist??? In Barbados you feel very welcome as a tourist, the Bayan people are very well aware of the importancy of tourism. Every where we went they were very friendly and helpfull and there are certainly advantages when they see an H on the car. They often let you go first during busy traffic and give advice/tips on sightseeing etc etc... Barbados is a smll Island bur there is much to see and to do. I love the fact that the Government is promoting and protects their own products...you can find juices, jams of every fruit that is growing in Barbados. We were ther during the Crop Over Festival and boy, the Bayan people really know how to party, we had a great time!!! At the airport on our way back to home we were requested to review Barbados and we did suggsted some improvements though, like some more lights on the roads, to forbid the bright lights on the car which is very annoying when driving. You pay with BArbados dollars in Barbados, 1 USD for 2 BDS. You can pay with USD every where and the rate is always and everywhere the same, love it.. You can not go to a bank to USD, only BDS. This is to protect their currency which Is a good cause in my opinion. You can only buy USD 24 hours befor you leave the Island and to proof that you must present your airline ticket. One other thing they need to tackle in Barbados is the fact that we were not able to pay with our Maestro cards in any shops. We were only able to pin money from the ATM machine. No machines in any shops were suitable to pay with these cards so be aware when shopping to have your creditcard or enough cash (BDS/USD) with you. Besides these small issues we will certainly recommend visiting Barbados and hope to be able to visit this little nice Island again. If you are looking for some activity we would like to recommend a catamaran cruis with Good Times Catamaran. They are great with excellent service, this wS one of the highlights of our holiday...
