Stayed here a few days after a tour of Vietnam.
Hotel room was good, “ interesting “ to have a glass walled bathroom!
Choose a sea view, as the other side of the hotel looks at an empty plot( with the usual rubbish).
Lovely clean pool area with bar. Cocktails reasonable price.
Clean beach , plenty of sun beds and parasols and beach towels.
Afternoon tea, coffee and snacks were useful to fill the gap between a huge breakfast and dinner.
Easy walk to some good restaurants on the main road.
Town is a taxi ride away - have a look at the night market!
Great place for a beach break!

We stayed here for 3 nights 2 days purely to relax and unwind after a very busy tour of the Vietnam mainland.

The hotel and its location met all our expectations. Accessing the beach and pool simultaneously whilst sipping a drink from the bar. The breakfast and restaurant for dinner had a good range to choose from. The staff were always keen to assist.

The only detracting comments I make it is in relation to the clientele which is beyond the control of the resort. It appears the resort is frequented by people from that part of the world (left to everyone's imagination) who flaunt their obese bodies in very brief bikinis and speedos on the beach and pool area. I suppose that is their right to do so!!!!

Amarin Resort and Spa

Stayed 10 nights 04 -14 Feb 18. Decided to write a fair and comprehensive review based on an extended stay from a very experienced traveller.

Prior to my arrival the hotel had received a 'mixed bag' of reviews with various complaints from the pool to the breakfast arrangements. This did give me reasonable cause for concern.

So.....

Reception/Check In.
Faultless experience. A welcome drink on arrival. The staff completed the necessary paperwork and were pleasant and efficient. The Reception Assistant offered good advice regarding some of the hotels functions etc. Including a 2pm complimentary coffee, cakes and fruit at the lounge/bar.

Rooms.
Stayed on the 8th floor (non sea view). Room was clean, spacious and had tv, kettle etc and reasonably priced mini bar.

Triple glazed patio doors (to balcony) hill view. Glass and stainless steel balcony facade with rattan furniture.
There is a building plot (not site) opposite that some complained about. No big deal. No construction planned anytime soon.

The bed is really comfortable and the A/C whisper quiet. Top quality brand new unit.

The bathroom is a good size with walk in shower and good pressure in shower despite the 8th floor.

All in all a pretty good room that was easy to stay in with excellent house keeping. Room was spotless and cleaned at same time every day.

Pool/Beach Area
Very well run with plenty of towels and loungers by a reasonably large pool. The water was crystal clear in the pool. The young lad cleaned it at 7am every morning during our stay. The pool is quite mellow and relaxing. The music is a mixed bag of generic tunes. Background music at best. Not offensive though.

The beach is West facing and has shaded loungers under the trees. As good a pool area you could hope for. 10/10 for beach/pool.

Breakfast/Restaurant
Although the hotel will tell you breakfast starts at 6.30. Turning up at 7.00 is a better idea. Let's just call it a 'soft 6.30'. On second thoughts let's just call it 7am.

A few of the usual hotel favourites that are ever present, such as: good Fruit selection, salad selection, bread selection, mini cakes, cheese and meat platter, eggs and pancake station with a selection of fruit juices and coffee.

Additionally there are a selection of hot dishes in their respective cloche serving bowls. A mix of Asian (noodles/rice/dim sum) stuff and Western (Beans, sausage/meaty stuff). There are other dishes besides.

As a veggie my options can be limited anywhere in the world. That said, I really enjoyed breakfast. Some hotels I have stayed offer a larger buffet, however, the breakfast was good.

The coffee is good and the fruit juice fresh. A review I read complained about the juice being watered down. It isn't. Veggies would always complain about that and I personally have in Cambodia.

I didn't eat dinner at the restaurant or order drinks at the pool or order room service - so can't comment on that.

The gym is okay. Full set off dumbells and enough kit for a training session. A decent tread mill for the runners.

So in summary. A hotel on the beach with a nice pool, good breakfast, good location with a few minor issues.

I enjoyed my stay as did my wife.

Stayed here for 2 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you ignore the wasteland out the front the location is fab. Sea wonderful, on best part of the beach, an hour walk to the Night Market or 10 mins and £2 in a taxi. The little silver taxis with Phu Quoc Taxi on the top are the cheapest. The pool was lovely when clean, which was most of the time and it was interesting to watch it being cleaned one morning and see the layer of sand and sun lotion being sucked up by the machine.
The room had a great sea view (6th floor), was big, with 2 queen sized very comfortable beds and had everything we wanted. Bathroom amenities were more than required, and shower robes, beach robes, beach bag and flip flops provided. The air con was the best I've encountered. But there was no drawer space, the towels were small (but white and fluffy) and the safe was too small for an ipad and in a stupid location on the floor of the wardrobe. We had no issues with housekeeping, room was cleaned OK and we always had clean towels.
The staff were amazing, very helpful and respectful despite being so young and lacking direction as there was no management in place. Shame as they are so happy and willing to provide a good service when they know what to do.

Room Tip: Sea view room is a must

My husband and I stayed for 5 nights in early January. We had a suite Room 817 which is as the pictures show, great view and big room. Had no problem with noise as we were at the end of the corridor. The TVs in the bedroom did not work properly the entire time we were there and we were told none were as there was a cable issue but I don't know that was true or more people would have mentioned it. Bed was large and comfortable.
Room service food was prompt but there was no menu in the room and lots of things were unavailable. The very young man who brought it to our room was very nervous but polite and did a very nice job of laying it all out for us and should be commended for trying so hard.
Service around the pool was good and prompt but the plates are not cleared away.
Generally the hotel is not well built and you can see that if you look closely at the walls and tile finishing. The umbrellas at the pool are already falling apart.
The worst part of the stay was the pool. It is a very nice pool and when it was clean at the start of our stay it was great. By day 3 it was murky and by day 5 I would not swim in due to the fact it was so dirty and had brown froth in one corner on the water. The day we left it was crystal clear again.
The beach in front was nice and clean.
Staff did struggle with English but tried hard. The problem is not them but the fact no one seems to be managing things properly or training enough.
Another example is allowing people to smoke in the breakfast area.
We normally prefer more boutique hotels and Phu Quoc is not my favourite place in Vietnam being full of ugly hotels and Russians on package tours.
We had a good deal at the time of the year for what we paid for such a big room and
view but it had a lots of small things wrong and large one being the dirty pool.

Room Tip: Beach view, don't get a mountain view, suite was nice
