The owners Sharon and Brenton are great hosts. The food they prepare just keeps you coming back. Such an amazing place just to hang out on the beach and interact with all the locals.

Just returned from a very pleasant week here. The Boat House is the focal point of the village hosting a dinner and drums evening on the beach every Wednesday. Tourists are made very welcome by the English owner Sharon. Food is excellent and there are a good selection of cocktails to try. The pace is easy and situated on the beach it is the perfect location to relax, eat and drink.

The Boat House restaurant is situated right on the beach in “little bay”. The bar & restaurant is quite unique both for it’s colourful decor and rustic appearance.

Sharon who owns and operates this wonderful beach restaurant, has made this little place one of the main focal points of entertainment and incredible meals in Castara for many years now! Sharon has worked hard to create a very enjoyable place to eat, drink or just lime and all her staff go out of their way to be both friendly and polite, helping make this a truly fantastic experience!

There are always a number of tantalizing menu choices offered for lunch all cooked perfectly by the very gifted chef “Davon” who produces some of the best local cuisine we have eaten!

There is usually a choice of seafood, vegetarian or meat dishes and if you are lucky, huge fresh Caribbean Lobster cooked to perfection and always served with pride!

Wednesday nights has become a tradition for drums & limbo night. This is both a fun and exhilarating experience, especially the wonderful rhythms that the drummers produce for a number of hours allowing guests some great entertainment! The event always attracts a large crowd of visitors and locals alike!

Once again a scrumptious dinner menu is offered Wednesdays evenings, usually before the drumming, including a variety of fish and meats and delicious curry shrimp and even more fresh lobster when available! Your candlelight dinner can be eaten either inside or on the patio right on the beach to the sound of the sea breaking on the shore!

The bar offers a good selection of beer and spirits, but we often preferred the bar’s special homemade rum punch!

Every Sunday lunch time, Sharon products her incredible homemade pizzas! They are truly loaded with all ‘things yummy’ and it is easy to get very addicted to this Sunday special.

We probably spent more time at the Boat House restaurant and bar than any other village venue for the four weeks we were staying in this little piece of paradise and strongly recommend you visit this unique beach restaurant when in Castara.

We visited this lovely little restaurant on two different occasions for lunch, and were very happy to spend an afternoon here. It's situated at Castara, in the smaller of the two bays, known as Little Bay or Heavenly Bay. The turning off the road which leads directly to this restaurant is a bit precipitous, so we chose to park at Castara Bay and walk through to Heavenly Bay. The paths are a bit steep in places, but it's only a 5 minute walk. There's also a well-stocked mini-mart at Castara Bay, which we found very useful too.

The restaurant itself is colourfully decorated, the staff are pleasant and friendly, and the atmosphere is peaceful and wonderfully relaxed. It's right on the beach, so you can use the restaurant as a base to do some swimming or snorkelling while you're there.

The food was very tasty both times we visited. It's usually the case that you turn up and read the blackboard to find out what they're cooking that day, and there are a couple of choices or variants. Don't let that worry you, because everything we ordered on both occasions was fresh, well-flavoured and nicely cooked. The first time, we had lionfish, with coleslaw, rice, spicy creamed spinach, spicy carrots, cheese potato pie & a rustic-looking ratatouille. The second time we had shrimp (prawns) in garlic butter with meat pilau. The shrimp tasted sweet and fresh, and the pilau was richly spiced (I think cumin was definitely in there), but it wasn't fiery. Portions were very generous on both occasions and the dishes were very good value for money. If I was to make one criticism, it would be that there wasn't much choice for dessert; just two flavours of ice cream. Given that there is an excellent ice cream maker on the island (J'n'J's Homemade Ice Cream), I would've liked to see more flavours on offer.

I would've happily kept coming back to this restaurant, as it ticked so many boxes for my family and I.
