Over the years we have stayed in some beautiful villas but this villa beats them all. From the pristine grounds and pool area to the immaculate and modern villa with its 4 balconies with different views the villa has everything that’s needed for the family. Nikos and Mr Costa made us feel like one of the family ensuring that everything was taken care of before our arrival, during our stay and when leaving. The villa has its own lemon, apple, peach trees, tomatoes and herbs of which we picked on a daily basis and Mr Costa gave us cakes, eggs and honey which were gorgeous. Nikos and Mr Costa took us out on their boat which meant we missed the crowds and had beaches to ourselves, the lamb and salad meal was fabulous. Our memories of villa Dimokratia will always be with us and can highly recommend this villa to everyone.
A car is a must to enjoy the surrounding area and beaches of which Nikos arranged prior to our arrival. Thank you to Nikos and Mr Costa for ensuring our holiday was fantastic. We will be back.
We have been spending out holidays in rented villas regularly for many years. The Villa Dimokratia has arguably been the best so far. It is easily accessible via motorway from the Chania airport. One thing not always self-evident: the house exactly matches its photos. It is very spacious and comfortable, with all the equipment one can think of to enjoy their holiday to the full. Enough towels (including bathrobes and slippers, not to mention some emergency toiletry) available have been much appreciated. Beach towels are no doubt a big plus, considering the bag limitations imposed by the likes of Ryanair. The house projects cleanness. About halfway through the week, we were in for a nice surprise: the arrival of two housemaids to make the villa spick and span again (towels changed, beds made, wow, never seen anything like this anywhere else!). The house is beautifully set in a large green well-kept garden with a pool and and covered BBQ area. In the garden, you can help yourself to various herbs to spice up your food. Add two lemon trees desperately calling for some relief from their abundant big ripe fruits! Real fresh lemonade on the menu all week long! Simply amazing. We have enjoyed every bit of it until the moment of departure.
But the best thing about the house is yet to come: its owners and their parents (who live in the village up the hill so take two minutes to come at a call). Readily available anytime you lack something. On the arrival, we were welcomed with their farm eggs, homemade cake, olive oil and wine. Kostas (The Captain) and Nikolaos, co-owner with his lovely wife whom the villa is actually named after, took us for a wonderful boat trip to the Gramvousa island and the Balos lagoon, all-included with a pique-nique on the beach served by the crew ... Knowing the places very well, the trip time was smartly chosen to avoid the crowds dropped on the shore by large cruise ships. We thus enjoyed the Gramvousa beach in the afternoon almost on our own.
We are definitely set to return and recommend this villa by all means! Suffice to say we came to meet its owners, unknown people to us, and left a week later, almost tearful, from genuine friends.
Huge thanks for your hospitality, Dimokratia, Nikolaos, Kyriaki & Kostas!

On arrival we were met by owners Nikos and Dimokratia, they had provided a beautiful homemade local pasta dish, fresh eggs, Homemade wine, homemade cake and homemade Raki. Which after a long day of traveling, was very welcome.
The Tv is modern and WiFi is great all through the home including the garden and pool area.
We stayed in during most evenings and cooked due to the great facilities and views, the garden had fresh tomatoes, Lemons and peaches.
The cleaners that came were wonderful, they even baked us some fresh pastries one day for breakfast!!!!!!
Dimokratia’s Father is a true gentleman, he and his wife are wonderful.
Nikos and Dimokratia are just such welcoming people we truly miss them and will return one day to this special place to drink Raki with Captain until sunrise.
We have been staying in holiday villas for seven years now and this was certainly the most luxurious house. It was built for the owners to live in but they decided they wanted something smaller. As a result it feels like a really well built and decorated luxury home rather than a rental. The interior is extremely well built and decorated, designer kitchen, marble floors, modern appliances, tv's in every room and of course air conditioning throughout. Plenty of fluffy white towels and bathrobes plus towels for the pool. Each one of the rooms (even the bathrooms) has a stunning view of the sea or the mountains. There is a huge roof terrace with panoramic views. The garden has orange and apple trees, tomato plants, flowers and herbs. The whole property is securely fenced with electric gates and the house is surrounded by olive trees. The pool area is tiled and there is a shaded sitting area alongside with power and light. The house is a few minutes drive to Kolymbari which has plenty of good restaurants as well as bars and shops. There is also an excellent bus service from Kolymbari to Platanias and Chania Town every 15 mins. Nikos and Dimokratia (and their family) are the most wonderful hosts. We arrived very late on Saturday night and they very kindly provided a tasty dinner for us with local wine. One of our party managed to get her car stuck and when we asked Nikos for help, Dimokratia's parents arrived with a jeep to help tow it out. They did this with huge smiles on their faces, only too pleased to help, even on a Sunday afternoon. Nothing seemed too much trouble for them, we left as friends. I cannot recommend this house highly enough and I definitely think we'll be back.
Superb villa, extremely well kept. These owners have pride and are very hospitable.
Nothing to fault, we had a wonderful stay.
Good wi fi for our teens, great pool, lovely decor.
We arrived at midnight on our first night, owners Nikos and Dimokratia were there to welcome our family. They even prepared a nice homemade dinner dish for us, saved us the hassle of trying to find food late at night.
There mom also provided fresh eggs and made us delicious homemade cakes.
We are happy to have discovered this villa and the family that owns it.
Our love to them
It was a great stay in a very comfortable house. The owner "Nikos" and his family were really helpful and friendly. The villa was clean and big enough with a beautiful garden and nice views to the sea and the mountains. The private swimming pool was wonderful. Close to sandy beaches: half an hour to Falasarna beach, Balos and about one hour to Elafonissi. The nearest shop about 3 minutes by car. Restaurant at Kolymbari great!!! It was fabulous holidays!
The pool and the garden was great and the house had all the comforts needed. They welcomed us with fresh fruit, local drinks, traditional products and everything we needed after the trip. The house was spotless and had great views over the hills and over the sea from the top floor. Nikos was really friendly and available whenever we had a question. If we go back to Crete we will definitely stay in this house again!
