“Venus Beach Styra”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 September 2012 via mobile

Excellent Hotel, beautifull swimming pool and one of the most beautiful sand seaside.Traditional food with very cheap prices.
Most amazing sunset and beautifull view from the rooms. Very polite and friendly staff.
High standards with very low prices.
A little paradise near by Athens and main airport. Highly recommended.

Been there with a last minute booking from those cheap website offers!
It was a mess! Very old hotel, the rooms were smelling humidity, and no heating in MARCH! Why open in march if you cannot facilitate winter!?
Small variety of food and the worst coffee in Greece!
Needs urgent renovation or if you are happy with 1 or 2star hotels go there!
Strictly during summer!!

The hotel is right in front of the beach, which unfortunatelly is not sanded. The main building of the hotel (reception,cafeteria,restaurant/tavern,beach and piscine) is very well, modern decorated. The owner is very friendly and if you call him he might give you the room cheaper than the official net prices. The biggest disappointment was the room. Far from the main building, was very old, poor decorated, clean but still was like hotel rooms during eighties... The other disappointment came from our only meal in the Lefka tavern into the hotel. We ordered a carbonara, which was the meal of the day. It was my first and only time i ate cold macaroni... The sauce was nothing like carbonara. More or less like sour cream and Vodka. Very good for relaxing an isolated beach bar "crystal bay" 200 metres away.
Try eat at mouries tavern 500 metres away towards the centre of Styra.
Styra is a very convinient location for weekend (ferry from Agia Marina just 3,5 euros/person), but next time i ll try another hotel.

Nice hotel & bungalows built right on the sea. Nice large clean pool. Owners very nice & helpful.
Food not too bad. 3 levels of prices...lowest rate 40 euro....rooms desperately need renevation. Mid price rooms 60 euro....need bathroom renevation....80 euro rooms.....brand new...very clean and relaxing to stay in. Generally nice clean hotel. Beach in front of hotel not good but u can walk to a nice shore close by. South Evia does not offer the best beaches in Greece ( but they are very clean, they just dont have that auqamarine colour that other beaches have ) This island in general is great for a few days getaway as its less than 2 hours from central Athens.

Room Tip: If you dont like walking up steps, request a room closer to the pool as all bungalows are built on a...

We stayed for 7 nights and the overall experience was good. The food was more than enough and we arranged with the owner that we will share half the food in the Lunch and half in Dinner.so despites we payed half board we ate free the whole day!(our 2 youngsters don't eat much and the portions were hudge). Breakfast is good and more than enough. So foodwise we were ok. Rooms are quite small but cosy and cleaned daily. The bath has a shower and is generally clean. The pool has sea water and is not very big. Nice though. September was not a good choice as it was a bit cold in the evening and windy. Not much to do at the surrounding area but the Nea Styra village is 5 minutes away by car. Sea in front of the hotel is rocky but 100 meters away there is a long sandy beach with very clear water. If you have the option to choose room, choose the ones facing south-west. much less wind and great view. Also have in mind that the bungalows are built on a hill in many levels, so if you have problems climbing up the hill book a lower level bungalow.
