Sunrise Bungalow
Ranked #41 of 51 Hotels in Lamai Beach
Reviewed 7 July 2017 via mobile

We found Sunrise bungalows unexpectedly during sight seeing and we needed further accommodation so enquired and stayed for three nights. Firstly the lady and staff who run the place are really friendly and welcoming. The setting is absolutely beautiful. Authentic, pretty, bungalows right on the sea front. The gardens are beautifully kept and the beach is so beautiful only a few steps away. The sea is ideal for swimming in and some beautiful rocks nearby for snorkelling. The bungalows are not modern but we found that that did not matter in the slightest due to them being clean, having what you need and the location in general. Food was lovely and reasonably priced. Hopefully be back some day.

I cannot fault this place. From the moment we arrived the owner was welcoming and helpful. She and her staff put a lot of love and energy into maintaining the beautiful tropical gardens and keep the beach and the rooms very clean.

The Thai food served on site is delicious. There are many Western options too but can't comment on those as we always prefer to eat local.

The bungalows are very clean. A little lizard poop to deal occasionally with but hey, you are on a tropical island! It happens inbetween room servicing. All rooms are well positioned and most are very near the beach. We had Room 205 which was perfect. A good size and had air con although in hindsight we didn't need the air con so could have taken a smaller fan room next door.

Anyone making complaints obviously expects too much for their money!! This place is cheap and rustic and like the old Thailand before all the modern soulless hotels popped up. It's at the quiet end of the beach but there is a 24 hour convenience store 3 mins walk away and some other bars and restaurants. You can walk down lanai beach for 10 mins in the evenings to reach a multitude of bars and restaurants, fire shows etc.

I highly recommend this place. We booked 7 nights, then extended it 7 nights...and we will be coming back next time we are in Samui for sure!

Thank you to everyone at Sunrise for your hard work to make it a wonderful stay!

As advertised, a beautiful, secluded, very low key place where you'll be right on the beach.

Great for couples and kids. Everyone there is friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant is great!

Because it's at the end of the beach with only a handful of bungalows you'll find it extremely quiet.

It's 2.5 star so if you're expecting 5 star, pay more somewhere else. You get what you pay for - it's priced fairly relative to similar accommodations.

TheStaff was not friendly and not helpful
Restaurant closes really early
It Was stinking the fish in the bathroom
Hole in the sheets and blood on it, kind of disgusting
It was expensive for the quality of service, you expect more for this price...

The rooms are traditional beach huts with plenty of space and decent amenities. This is provided at a decent price with plenty of smiles from the staff/family who all have impeccable manners. There's a nice bar/restaurant too and the whole place is right on the beach with amazing views. 10 minute stroll to Lamai centre so you're far enough away not to hear any noise from town at night.

Room Tip: Take a look at a few different rooms (which the staff will suggest anyway) and pick your favourite!

Returned to Sunrise after 10 years,to bring back memories and just to avoid the crowded places you find elsewhere on Koh Samui.
The owner which I know for a long time, stick to the concept of simplicity, authenticity and hospitality.
She can and will arrange everything for you, needed.
Most guests come back on a regular basis, and they find something here in atmoshfere and friendlyness you dont find anywhere else.
The location is perfect at the far southend of Lamai 500 m away from Hin Tai Hin Yai rocks.the sea near Sunrise is a good swimming and snorkling location

Room Tip: There is 1 big nice room with seaview.we stayed in this room.
