We have just returned from 6 nights at this wonderful place. We had three children (11, 10 and 6) who all thoroughly enjoyed themselves. It is a very relaxing and beautiful place and definitely lives up to its reputation. We booked a stunning family villa with its own plunge pool and weren't disappointed. The staff are incredibly polite and helpful and ensured that our stay was memorable. It is managed so well by Martin and Art who both are professional and friendly. The hotel arranged a range of trips for us, diving for my husband ("the best dive of his life"), elephant riding, fishing and snorkelling. We barely ate out as the menu at the Bistro was so extensive and so delicious, but thought that we ought to at least try somewhere else! The chef even cooked our fish that we had caught much to the children's delight. We also had two superb buffet dinners in "The Dining Room" The holiday prides itself on its motto "when you are at Rocky's you're family" and it suceeds in this. Our youngest enjoyed the children's room where she had her face painted, coloured in, and had her hair plaited. Our older children enjoyed the games room. The only small criticsm is that at times the service could be sharper e.g. a wait for our suitcases late at night and one of the beds not made up, but despite this, it is a truly charming place that caters for a range of guests, honeymooners, families etc and we would return without hesitation.

I hope that you arrived home safely and thank you for your kind comments, It was a pleasure having you here and sorry again that I could not take the boat trip with you, maybe next time. My back is much better and back to golf tomorrow.
Your children were amazing, the staff miss them already. Take care

We spent 8 nights here and loved it!
We had our 2 year old and 10 year old with us and the staff were fabulous including our babysitter.
The Pad Thai in the top pool restaraunt was divine.
Food and drinks at the resort all well priced.
Rooms clean and spacious.
Loved it, would go back!

Room Tip: A room with a balcony a must. :)

Spent 5 nights at Rocky's this April and had a wonderful time.

After researching where to stay on Koh Samui I went with the reviews I had read and chose Rocky's - and what a great decision that was. We stayed in the Villa with plunge pool and it was gorgeous and so roomy. On 2 floors this villa has 2 bedrooms but will sleep 6 as there is a landing where another bed can be made up. The villa is located by the main pool but you have a small private plunge pool which is lovely to cool off in. The gardens all around the resort are beautifully kept with unique statues, waterfalls etc along little paths which all meander down to the sea.

We ate in the Bistro all days and have got to say that the food here is absolutely first class, be it lunch or dinner we never had a meal which wasn't 1st class. For more formal dining there is the restaurant called "The Dining Room" which is one of the best on Samui. Breakfasts are buffet style with option to order hot food from a menu. I opted for the home made muesli most mornings which was fab whilst the rest of my family got hooked on the pancakes!

The pool is a great size with accommodation dotted around it as well as "the bistro" and the pool bar. Walking towards the beach there is "The Dining Room" as well as a second smaller pool and pool bar.

All of my family had a massage in the beach "sala" which was great. Try and get the lady called "NAN" she is amazing.

All the staff at Rocky's are friendly and seem to really enjoy their jobs. Special mention to the young bar tender called "BIG" who was so polite and friendly and a real asset to Rocky's (service as it should be) also Boi and JJ the managers who were always ready to talk to you.

The only downside of Rocky's is that the beach is tiny and the water is full of seaweed so not too good to swim in so if you are looking for an amazing beach then you would need to look towards Chaweng which is where we stayed after Rocky's and the sea and beach there are like a picture postcard.

Not sure whether it was the time of year we travelled but we were also eaten alive by mosquito's which wasn't much fun. The management do spray the rooms and resort regularly to keep the mosquitos down but all the people that we talked to had also been bitten badly, such a shame as it isn't the fault of Rocky's but even with Jungle Formula Insect Repellant we weren't left alone!!

Rocky's also throw in comp trips such as Island Trip or Massage or free dining which is a nice touch and when I told the lady in reception that it was my husbands birthday they left a lovely cake in our villa and a message in leaves on the bed. Its touches like these that make a resort go from a nice resort to an amazing resort.

I would say that 5 nights was enough for us and although we had a wonderful time it was nice to move onto another resort where we had an amazing beach and were able to go for evening strolls but if you aren't looking for a beach and want the seclusion that this resort offers then there surely can be no where else to beat it.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like anymore info on Rocky's.

Thank you for your wonderful comments. I agree the villas are amazing with so much space. Yes Big does get a lot of praise, he, like most of our staff love their jobs and we do take good care of them. Thai people are so proud and can never do enough for our guests, they do because they want to, not because they have to.
There are large beaches either side of our resort you can use. Sometimes we get seaweed, but this it usually cleaned up quickly, I will check on this.

I am very upset, after staying at Rocky's, no other resort comes close. We had our wedding there on 25th Feb. Firstly, Ann the wedding planner is one of the best and most patient people I know. I wasn't the easiest bride to deal with, and she was great. I can honestly say everything on the day was just perfect, and it truely was the most beautiful day.
The resort itself is amazing. Every little thing is thought of (even cookie jar set up in the library). Staff is very friendly. I have stayed in number of various hotels and I can honestly say this is the best i've been at. Its small and cozy, but ran very professionally.
The food is absolutely amazing. From the bistro to dining room. Lots has been written about breakfast, and it really is great.

Room Tip: Massage by the beach sala is great

I was really worried when you opened your comments with "very upset" I guess it was because you had to go home and could not stay at Rockys for longer. Well there is always next year.

Every category easily gets a 5 star rating. This was our first visit to Thailand, and Rocky's delivers everything we were looking for. Although very close to business and entertainment areas, the atmosphere was intimate. The grounds were immaculate, the food was excellent, service was attentive and friendly, and the breakfast service was something to look forward to in the morning. And we can't say that about many breakfast buffets. The room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. 5 stars. Rocky's made staying in Thailand easy and fun. We will be back!

Thank you, It is amazing that we are able to create this calm and relaxing atmosphere yet only be 5 minutes from Lamai. Our breakfasts have been developed over the years and we find that guests prefer things like cereal, breads, pastries, toasts, juices and fresh fruits to be buffet style and everything hot is cooked fresh for you in the kitchen, A Rocky breakfast, freshly cooked and hot is to die for. Great chefs.

We visited Rocky's last year (3 adults & 2 children agree 15 and 12) and had such a great time we came back.

The stay did not start well as we had booked a Thai Villa, given the age of the children and the private plunge pool, but on our night of arrival were told no villa was available so were given 2 adjoining beach front rooms. Despite this hiccup, the GM quickly resolved the issue and we moved to the villa we booked on the afternoon of our second day.

After this, all was to the very high standard of quality we had previously experienced. The one slight frustration (but remember you are on 'island time') was the speed of the bar staff at the main beach bar.

In summary: I am certain we will be back again!

Room Tip: Beach front rooms have great views, but be aware lots of weddings take place - fun to watch, but you...
