Every year since 2006, we have been satisfied to visit Hotel Blue Bay, perfect for visiting the many beautiful golf courses in Mallorca. This year we also chose to explore Palma city and it’s attractions or to enjoy the sunshine at the room's balcony. All double rooms have a magnificent view of Palma Bay with sailing races, cruise ships, etc. We like to choose courses, vegetables and fruit from the chef’s buffet to go nicely with perhaps a Mallorca wine. The staff is friendly and helpful in several languages.
If older people do not want to drive a hired car, there is bus stop 20 meters from the hotel. This brings you to Plaza de Espanya with Metro, trains and buses.
Once again we enjoyed the orderly, cozy atmosphere. For us two weeks is perfect to make sure you get home suntanned. We look forward to next year.

Room Tip: Choose 4th floor, 5th or further up, if possible, for even better view over the bay

Had no idea what to expect as we just took a gamble on a couple of days of cheap sun at the the very end of the season. (Hotel Blue Bay closed the Sunday after we left.) We paid £129 / (148E), for 4 nights.

ROOM - Moved to a Sea view room with small 2 chair balcony early on the second day as requested. About the size of a typical Travelodge room but with a spacious wardrobe, desk and chair. Fairly standard en suite facilities. Shower tray resembled a half length / half height bath. Water pressure and temperature good on the days we were there. Power points for shaver / hairdryer (borrowed from reception). 2 x single beds, fairly firm, with blanket & extra pillows in room. Clean laminate floor, Usual compliment of clean white towels, although a little threadbare. Rooms refreshed daily, (leave sign on handle.) Safe in room (2E daily) big enough for my netbook but NOT a laptop ! Iron (no board) borrowed from reception. (Only the one available so get in early !)
BREAKFAST - This was included in our room rate and was suprisingly good. The breakfast / dining room was bright and welcoming. Usual continental fayre available - Fruit juices / Breads / Croissants / Cold meats and some cheese. Very good fruit selection with yoghurts. Cereals / toast / conserves. Streaky bacon & fried eggs available daily and constantly repelnished. Tea & Coffee (instant only) - decaf available.
COMMUNAL AREAS - Good WiFi in the lobby area / Reasonable priced small bar and seating area. Small stage (no cabaret when we were there). Seating area outside the foyer for smokers and others awaiting transit etc. Lower terraces for sun seekers. Small but reasonably well maintained grounds leading down mid sized but clean tiled pool area. Plenty of sunbeds (in low season anyhow !). Free parking at the rear of the hotel, but quite difficult to find without a map. Corridors and lifts a touch tired but well maintained. Nothing here for the kids if the "animation" team have packed up for the winter - (What a blessing !) Yes - there are steps and gradients, but there's no pain without gain, (and there's no great view without increased elevation either !)
CALA MAYOR - Not a happening place at this end of the year, but enough to keep you entertained for a couple of nights. Nawab - does good Curry. - The Office Bar - does good pints, chat & WiFi - Martins Bar - does good pints, footie and chat. Go into Palma on the bus for authentic restaurants, shopping, history, hustle and bustle.
STAFF - Reasonably fluent in English. polite and efficient. Really bubbly lass attending to clearing and replenishing at breakfast was a cheery soul.
PS - Don't use BK Rent (or Centaur) for car hire. We booked a Smart Car - they gave us a 6 seater ! Used 1/4 tank but charged 81E for full tank ! This is why they appear so cheap over the internet. Don't pay up front. Use one of the "Named" brands and read the small print.

Room Tip: Anything above the 3rd floor on the south side of the hotel has a good harbour and sea view. I got t...

I was part of a group of 10 guys who stayed the the Blue Bay between 27th and 30th September to celebrate a colleagues retirement from the Fire Service. When we arrived we were all allocated rooms with a superb sea view and offered an all inclusive food & drinks option at a very competative rate. The food was of a consistently high standard and there was always plenty of choice. The rooms were all very clean and the staff were always willing and able to assist us. The only small issue is the large number of steps down to the pool, but this is clearly described on the hotel website. Overall a fantastic value- for- money hotel, in a convenient location and we would we would all like to visit again very soon. Thanks Blue Bay.

We stayed at the Blue Bay between the 15th and 22nd September and had a fantastic relaxing week of hot sunny weather and laid back time. We were in the unusual position of being able to compare the Blue bay to another hotel, as when we arrived we were told we had to stay at the C'ala Santa Ana for 2 nights. We didn't mind this too much as it was right on the beach and we had fantastic views of the bay and beach from here. The food wasn't as good as the Blue Bay and the pool area very cramped and had the scrum to get a sunbed every morning. The proximity to the fantastic beach however made up for this although it was 4.8euros for a bed on the beach. The Blue Bay however had no issues around the pool which was relaxed and friendly. The views were equally impressive from our 6th floor room and the food was far superior to the Santa Ana. The only slight downside was the lack of choice sometimes, especially desserts. The rooms were clean and quite modern and adequate for a weeks stay which was a nice improvement on the Santa Ana room, which was again clean but very dated and had no air con. Overall we would recommend the Blue Bay as a great choice and Cala Mayor as a nice quiet resort.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room preferably above floor 4.
