I ate the worst pizza ever at this restaurant. Also the C salad failed miserably. I had really low expectations but they failed to exceed them.

I never ate at the regular restaurant so my rating should only reflect the pool restaurant.

I stayed with a friend in a 2 bedroom unit through RCI exchange program. It was well worth the exchange fees, however, I can't comment on what the cost might be if booked direct. Very beautiful suite and resort about 30 min drive outside Lisbon, in a very rural area. Rental car highly recommend to explore and get around. No real villages or shops to access without a car, but if you just want to stay at resort and enjoy, it is lovely and possible.

The Wi-Fi kept going out, the couch and rug were in need of being replaced. The full kitchen was a bit lacking for us since we like to cook. Everything was clean and the staff was very nice. It would have been nice to have some entertainment at the resort.

We arrived around noon, and check in wasn't until 4:00 pm. They let us store our luggage behind the desk, showed us around the resort and we had some lunch at the main restaurant. They had a Sunday brunch buffet. It was overpriced, but very good. Right after we ate, they already had a room ready for us so we were able to check-in quite early (around 1:30). We were so grateful for the service personnel that got us in early. The weather was unseasonably cool. It was mostly in the 60's. The staff kept apologizing lol. We surely didn't hold them responsible for that! It actually felt good since we left 100 degree heat in Texas. We thought it would be warmer so we didn't pack enough cool clothes! Needless to say, we didn't get to experience any of the pools. We stayed in the apartments and our room was awesome! It was a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, with a living room, kitchen, and outside patio. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. No complaints here. Me and the step-daughter did go to the spa. Again, the staff was friendly and seemed to really want to make us happy. We both enjoyed our treatments. I got a facial and she got a massage. The spa is a recommend for sure. We ate at the main restaurant again for breakfast. We had the sweetest waitress in the world. She was so happy and friendly! She told us were we could find a grocery store and other tips about Portugal. We wanted to take her home with us!

We ate at the smaller bistro type restaurant a couple times. The prices were much more reasonable and the food was terrific. The views were so picturesque. It was just lovely. The waiter chose our wine for us and he knocked it out of the park. We loved it. Again - another friendly staff member. The service at the restaurants was like other restaurants I've been to in Europe. Unlike the US, mealtimes are definitely not rushed. Expect to spend more time relaxing with slower service. It's not bad service, it's just a different view of mealtimes that seems to be prevalent in Europe, or at least the places I've visited. I didn't spend a lot of time at the Wellington bar, but those the most comfortable couches and chairs in the world! My husband and step-daughter were in there more during the evenings. They really enjoyed it. Shout out to Alejandro!

The service desk helped us get a rental car. We rented it for a full week. it was 287 Euros. When I tried to get a rental in Lisbon, it was 680 Euros. I'm so glad we waited until we got to Turcifal. The taxi ride from the airport in Lisbon was 80 Euro. Do yourself a favor and get a car. It saved our trip. The company brought it to the hotel, and we left it at the hotel when we were done. The easiest car rental ever.

Now the bad: It doesn't have convenience/gift type store. It could have benefited from that. We could have bought some small souvenirs, snacks, and drinks. We'd definitely bought a sweater or sweatshirt! It's far from everything so you spend a lot of time driving. It's about 45 minutes to heart of Lisbon, and 30 - 45 minutes to Sintra. We went to Lisbon a couple times for dinner and nightlife. That is a very long and tiring ride back after dining and a few drinks. If you are staying here to explore Lisbon, I would recommend staying in Lisbon. We would have explored it a lot more had we stayed there.

The grocery store is about a 10 minute drive. There isn't ANYTHING to do close to the resort. We had the apartment for a week, but ended up driving to the south coast and spending a couple nights in Portimaio on the south coast. It was a 3 hour drive. In a way, we were glad for its remoteness because we wouldn't have gone to the south coast if we weren't somewhat bored at the location. We loved Portimaio because we could walk outside the hotel to a lot of restaurants, shopping, and the beach. That's my silver lining anyway.

We visited this resort the last week of June 2018. Upon arrival we were pleasantly greeted by the hotel staff. They were very welcoming. The resort is very lovely and clean. The room was lovely and the bathroom large and offered a big tub and shower. The views of the countryside and mountain and golf course were picturesque. I appreciated the expresso machine in the room. The tap water was ok to drink. Beds were comfortable and there was turn down service nightly.

The outdoor pool was lovely but we really used the hot tub because it was cool. The only suggestion I would have would be update the lounge chairs and add some railings around the stairs as the slippery stone makes it easy to fall. Would love to see the pool bar open as well.

We used the Mandalay Spa’s “A time for me” and it was 2 hours of absolute fabulousness! I would highly recommend it. Best massage I ever had! After you can use their sauna and spa tubs for as long as you wish. Some cold water and nuts would be nice.

We did not take advantage of the golfing or the horseback riding but I imagine it would be great in such a pretty setting.

We ate at all the restaurants. The breakfast was probably the best deal there. It was buffet style. The Garden Terrace offered fresh fish and vegetables for lunch with a pretty view for $15 euro. We did not care for the Wellington Bar. The burger was not American style at all. We tried eating at their best restaurant “a la carte” one night and were told and I quote “ sorry we have an important group of 27 people coming in 15 minutes so seating you 2 is impossible.” We were offended by this and had to eat at the Wellington bar again, ugh. On our last night we did get into their top restaurant and it was good, but probably not worth the $25 euro per meal we spent. In addition you get charged for rolls etc and everything is at a very slow pace. But overall the restaurants are there if you need them.

Ok here is the part that you need to know if you plan on touring. We learned real quick that the hotel uses a taxi service exclusively and being in such a remote location you are at the mercy of their very expensive prices. Uber didn’t work. On top of that, the driver J. Martinez really didn’t offer us any knowledge or details about Portugal. We felt ripped off at these high rates and that the front desk pushed them and we were at their mercy never being in Portugal. I will tell you it’s like a $100 cab ride to Santa Cruz or Obidos if you feel like eating dinner elsewhere which you will. They did recommend a TuK TuK tour in Lisbon which was well worth it and after making some connections we were able to make cheaper touring arrangements. So beware that while the location is beautiful it will cost you to go anywhere because of its remoteness.

Overall I rated this hotel tops and Portugal was just lovely and I felt safe there.

Dear Mrs. Hawaiianskirt,
Thank you in advance for sharing your comment regarding your stay at Dolce CampoReal Lisboa.
We are glad to know that you enjoyed your stay with us, and got impressed with our amenities and services.
Regarding your experience at Grande Escolha restaurant, we are sorry that you were not able to enjoy your dinner at our fine dining restaurant. However, we were fully booked for that day, due to a very large group and other hotel guest’s reservations Grande Escolha restaurant has high service standards, and very limited number of seats, so we recommend our guests to book their table at least 24 hour in advance. As alternative we have other 2 restaurants available on the resort. About the taxi service we would like to clarify that we don’t have an exclusively deal with any taxi service provider and usually we contact several drivers to see each one is available. Please be aware that a taxi usually does not provide guide services. In a future visit to Lisbon, if you wish to book a guide service, please contact our guest services and we´ll be more than happy to book your tour with one of our multiple partners. .
Despite these situations we truly hope you consider visiting us again as we would be more than happy to welcome you back in a very near future.
Best Regards
