Very friendly welcome! We were upgraded to the main hotel (I take it that it had a spare room there as was mid week).
Really lovely room!
Very friendly and helpful staff!
Scenery is beautiful!
River boat into bath from just across the bridge was £5per person 1 way. Well worth it as you cover a commentary! We used it three times and the boat guys would wave and smile at us as we got on!
Recommend doing the twilight spa package for £45 pp in bath thermae spa once you are in the bath town! You get three hours in the spa and also a meal and glass of wine!
Then head back to the hotel by uber for under £10. Was such a lovely trip and definitely using this hotel again next time but will make sure we have a room in the main hotel like this time.
Thank you so much for a fab trip!

We booked this hotel, attracted by the location with its direct bus route/boat ride into the city. Then we read the reviews and became very concerned. It is essential to request a superior room with a view over the river and unspoiled fields beyond.

Other visitors who had requested such a room found themselves in a room overlooking nothing but the car park. We therefore telephoned to double-check we were definitely in a front facing room. The only consolation of a rear facing room is that your sleep will not be disturbed by the mill wheel at the front of the hotel.

Our room overlooked the 'non-superior' block and I wouldn't advise visitors to book one of these cheaper rooms.

Room 119 was a small twin although we managed to bolt the two beds together offering us more space. The bathroom was very clean, the room itself not as clean. It is possibly the best room in the hotel because it is furthest away from the mill wheel - which did disturb our sleep despite ear plugs.

The staff were very friendly and helpful although the dining room staff were run off their feet. If the hotel offered self-service tea and coffee this would solve the problem, because the remainder of breakfast was self-service, with cereals, juices, yoghurts, and a full-English cooked meal. I pre-ordered vegetarian sausages at the main desk before sitting down for breakfast and they were very tasty.

The entire hotel looks in need of a makeover, particularly new carpets and paint. There are aspects of this hotel which are poor but overall it probably qualifies as average.

Room Tip: Superior room is essential

I was contemplating rating my stay as terrible, however there were a few saving graces. I'll start with those. The hotel isn't too far from Bath city centre and is in a beautiful scenic location, perfect for a countryside walk. The staff were accommodating and there was a good selection available for breakfast. Now for the major let down! The room was not worth the £79 I paid for it on booking.com. I was disappointed as a friend who had stayed said it was nice, she mustn't have been in the lodge. I wish I had read the reviews before booking a lodge room there. Firstly, it was far too hot due to the heating which proved difficult to turn off and I had to get a member of staff to come to the room and resolve the issue. Secondly the noise pollution from the road, car park and other guests was phenomenal and I had an interrupted sleep, constantly waking up. The bed was average in terms of comfort, however there were some dirty marks on the duvet. They looked like mud/damp spots... so it clearly hadn't been changed. A dead spider fell out of one of my towels so it must have come from the bottom of the cupboard and been there for some time. As for the curtains they had paint on and appeared to be moth eaten with a number of small holes in. Care clearly hasn't been taken when decorating. Also the decor is dated and shabby. Finally, the shower looked clean but the floor felt sticky and the toilet wouldn't flush. Thankfully the toilet had been cleaned before I arrived as there was still bleach down it.

Stayed here in good faith end of October as part of a road trip for my cousin who was over from Australia
We were put in the so called "Lodge"
What a horrible dirty place !
Mould all around windows and shower, grubby net curtains, main door opening against the bed and same for bathroom.
Plus a family of Spiders residing in the curtains to keep us company.
Too late in the day / evening to move as half term week and Bath busy with hotels full.
Wouldn't wish an Night here on my worst enemy.
Brought this to the attention of the front desk manger who said he would take it up with housekeeping dept.
On reading a previous review just now it appears the complaints have been similar so obviously nothing done about the cleanliness of this seedy looking accommodation.
In reality looks nothing like the pretty pictures on their website
Disgusting ... would never return !
Avoid this place is my advice

We booked a four night stopover whilst visiting friends and sites around Bath. The Old Mill Hotel is well located for such a trip, in a pleasant spot overlooking the River Avon. The premises comprises areas of varying ages. We were booked into the Annexe. The room was really rather small, but the fittings and bathroom were of good standard. The same cannot be said of the mattress. We complained the following morning and were moved to another room in the main building. There were no problems with this. The staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was self-service with several options. We did not take any other meals on site. Car parking is fairly limited and access onto and off site can take a little while when 'rush-hour' traffic is queuing to cross the neighbouring toll-bridge.
