“Appalling costumer service”

O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat Day Experiences
Reviewed April 4, 2018 via mobile

My family and I have stayed twice at O'Reillys and loved the place and everthing it had to offer. It was only natural that we choose O'Reillys to plan our upcoming September wedding. I called and left messages endlessly through the reception and Wedding Coordinator's office for a solid week and a half before I had enough. Wedding Coordinator was impossible to get a hold of, you leave a message in reception with your contact number and still no reply. Needless to say, O'Reillys has lost a costumer as we will never be going back there. They are obviously not interested in retaining business or good costumers. Very disappointing.

My niece and I went to experience the Treetop Walk at O'Reillys to beat the coastal heat. The drive up to the plateau from Canungra is very scenic. It's a windy narrow road that twists its way up the range to the Lamington National Park. Very picturesque. It can't be rushed however and will require patience and concentration. I would recommend mid morning arrival so you don't have too much traffic coming down to contend with. Once at the top you are greeted with a postcard view from the Visitors Centre and Restaurant.
The treetop walk is close by and accessible via a boardwalk which is wheelchair friendly. The suspension bridges take you above the floor of the Forrest into the tree tops. There is also an opportunity to climb to the top of a tree for a view over the range. Well worth it. Not for those afraid of heights though. The bridges were the first of their kind in the world and really give you a birds eye view of the Forrest. They are stable to walk on and well maintained.
The walk is free. There is also a mountain garden to enjoy with a huge variety of flowering plants lining the tracks. Cool and refreshing.
Afterwards we fed the beautiful Mountain birds. They will fly to and on you as you feed them grain. Also free.
The restaurant has a range if foods and drinks which you can enjoy on the deck overlooking the ranges. Good food. Speedy service.
A great escape so close to the Gold Coast.

The Treetop Walk is a must do even if you are not so great with heights. Great views across the rainforest with extra high vantage points if you dare! This is just one of the many walks that can be taken in the Lamington National Park of varying degrees of difficulty and they are all stunning. The road up was abysmal especially when other drivers are actually trying to pass on a single lane road so that was quite challenging but definitely worth it when you arrive.

The tree top walk can be a bit scary for those afraid of heights but worth doing. The suspended walk takes you about the tree canopy to provide great views.

The cafe here has a small selection of items, they are a little pricey but that's expected.

If you aren't afraid of birds, feeding them provides great photo opportunities.
