“Loved Every Second”
Reviewed December 31, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

This is located at a top of a mountain and was not difficult to find the place. We were travelling in our car and was able to get to their without any difficulty. The hosts, Chinthaka and Kumari are amazing people. Great hospitality is within their DNA. They just made the stay wow.

We stayed in the Studio in upstairs which had a wonderful view on the hills and greenery. It had a mini kitchen, mini fridge, a table. TV, DVD Players and a bath tub. Rooms were clean.

Now comes to my favorite part of the review, Food. Food was awesome. Cakes were homemade and it was the cherry on icing. Dinner we opted for hoppers and it was English breakfast for morning. Even the bread we had was homemade by Kumari.

On top of everything, they have a wonderful DVD collection. Don't miss that as well.

I would certainly recommend this place to anyone and personally I enjoyed my time here than some of my stays at star class hotels.

“Relaxing homestay surrounded by nature”
Reviewed February 23, 2017 for a stay in February 2017

At Chintaka's and Kumari's home we got rid of all the stress from everyday life and got deeply relaxed. The b&b is located on a hill a bit outside of Gampola - you will have to take a tuktuk in order to get to the city. For us it was exactly what we were looking for: quiet (except for the wildlife around) and fresh air. We stayed in the upper apartment, which was very spacious and tidy. You have a table there, a small kitchen incl. a fridge, a bathroom with a bathtub and a balcony with a wonderful view over the hills.

The breakfast Kumari provided us with was so delicious that we also booked the dinners there - everyday something new and directly from their garden. One day we even got a tour through the garden by Chintaka. The variety of fruits, vegetables and herbs is amazing - we became big fans of the jack fruit!

Our hosts were also very helpful with advising what to do around and organized a tuktuk driver for a whole day tour. For those who need some cooling off, there is a river close by with clean water. We can recommend this b&b to anyone who is looking for recreation in the nature and who wants to get a deeper understanding of Sri Lanka and its culture, as the hosts are wonderful locals who had an answer to all our questions about activities and the area.

“Exceptional place with the warmest hosts!”
Reviewed January 9, 2017 for a stay in December 2016

B&B Fifty-Eight-Eighty was an absolute haven! The studio was well equipped, clean and absolutely cosy. The bathroom was very spacious and I was very impressed that it was disabled-friendly. Chinthaka and Kumari were amazing hosts. The food they prepared for us were out of this world. Kumari's cakes and macarons were to die for! Both of them were very warm and helpful with tips on what to do around there. We felt as if we were welcomed to be a part of their home. We will definitely be visiting here again and can highly recommend it to anyone planning on visiting Gampola.

“Fresh air, great views, nice room and delicious food!”
Reviewed September 15, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

The B&B is in the mountains near Kandy close to the … dam. The modern (the owners designed it themselves!) house was built to get spectacular views over the mountains. And that’s what you get: Amazing views!

But the views are not the only thing we liked about this place, there is much more. For example the room, it has a lot of space with a dining table, good bed, fan (you don’t need airco in the mountains), DVD-player, LCD-TV, microwave, fridge etc. The bathroom is good, and depending on which room you have (there are only two rooms), you have a bath with shower or only a shower.

The owners are more than friendly and will do everything to make your stay as comfortable as can be. For example: The meals, they are prepared by themselfs and are made with the best day fresh ingredients from the local village. We tried the Sri Lankan rice and curry and it was great, also the breakfast was very, very good.

The area is suitable for walking or taking a dive in the river. Or you can just relax at your balcony enjoying the views and the cool wind from the mountains.

Our opinion for this B&B is very clear: Highly recommended!

“Beautiful location, immaculate accommodation, delicious food!”
Reviewed May 7, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Our family of four spent three nights at Chinthaka and Kumari's place in the hill country. We had a lovely room, a spacious en suite bathroom with hot water and a big bathtub, a little dining area and kitchenette complete with a fridge, microwave oven, kettle and complimentary tea and coffee making facilities which really hit the spot for us!
We had the best hosts ever! Kumari provided us with the most delicious and varied breakfasts every morning and superb evening meals too. Chinthaka gave us very helpful directions to places of interest: we had a wonderful morning going down the beautiful road winding through forests to the Kotmale dam and reservoir and in the evening were able to go on relaxing walks up the mountain on which they live to enjoy spectacular views across the valley.
