Had a great two week break at Funchal. The chalet is great. The best thing about it, however, is the location. Three Cliffs Bay is simply stunning. We have had the pleasure of visiting before but were still blow away. Would definitely consider coming back again.
SOME THINGS YOU MAY FIND HELPFUL
Sandy Lane - the estate the chalet is on appears to be early c20th holiday chalets. All individually quirky looking. To get to the chalet you have to navigate the bumpy unmade roads.
Dogs - we took our 2 dogs. They loved it. But a farmer exercises his antient grazing rights in the area and his herd of cattle are ever present. The rear garden is enclosed but not escape proof! With oversight our dogs were fine but we previously had a terrier who would have been out in seconds! We had a dog pen with us and used this to block access to the back garden frkm the front and the dogs were fine to be free in the front garden.
Washing machine - unclear from the info, but there is one and a dryer in the shed.
Annex - we booked the Annex at the last minute as our 2 daughters (19 & 21) decided to come making us 5 in total. Annex is great. 5 adults in the chalet would have been too much - for smaller children would be doable.
Local pubs and cafes -
Gower Inn - went twice drinks only both times not impressed with service. An understaffed young team who were struggling to cope.
Shepherd's Cafe - don't bother!
Gower Heritage Centre - tried but failed to get a coffee there. You have to go right inside and we decided not worth the effort with the dogs.
Pennard Stores / 3 Cliffs Cafe - VERY good round go back.
The Southgate- went for a drink. Nice friendly pub. Food might be worth trying.
Oxwich Bay Hotel - had a lovely cream tea - would go back.
The Woodman - Mumbles / Black Pill. Had a lovely meal here. Chef and Brewer pub so standard pub grill affair, but nicely done and have good deals. Clyne gardens is worth a look if you go.
This is the perfect comfortable bungalow to explore Gower. It is in a quiet area and fitted with everything you need. We loved spending time on the balcony and we were welcomed with welshcakes and wine. Definitely recommend.
Excellent amenities, very welcoming, comfortable and relaxing. Everything you need in a holiday rental, stunning location, beautiful chalet, well thought out in every way. Dog friendly and secure, and perfect for our family holiday! Having the annex was just an added bonus and super fun! We will definitely be booking again for next year if not sooner, we have found our perfect place!
I enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing break with four friends at the end of May/early June, staying in this delightful and extremely comfortable and clean chalet.
The setting is gorgeous - so tranquil and surrounded by beautiful trees and the continual sound of birdsong and just a few minutes walk to the stunning Three Cliffs Bay.
The new balcony, at the back of the property, has the most fabulous view overlooking the valley and is perfect for al fresco eating, drinking and relaxing. There is also a very private veranda at the front which is under cover allowing for the opportunity to sit outside in the fresh air whatever the weather.
Liz, the owner, was there to welcome us when we arrived and we, immediately, felt at home (the Welsh cakes she had waiting for us were delicious!)
The layout of the chalet is excellent with enough space to allow for privacy for all five of us and the location is ideal for both countryside and coastal walking or hiking.
I can’t recommend Funchal highly enough - it was the perfect escape to relax and enjoy the good company of friends -
Thank you Liz!
We were delighted when we arrived. There is everything you need. The chalet is clean and comfortable. We enjoyed biscuits, cake and wine on arrival.
The chalet is fantastic for walkers. The walk to Three Cliffs Bay is wonderful.
An additional bonus was WIFI which pleased our son.
The chalet is perfect for people who enjoy walking and nature.
We had a lovely stay in this beautiful chalet. On arrival we were greeted by some Welsh cakes, shortbread and a lovely bottle of wine, as well as some milk, a great touch and very welcoming. The chalet is laid out well and was immaculately clean, the front room is spacious and there was plenty of room in the whole chalet for the four of us. The view from the balcony is fantastic. We spent most evenings down at Three Cliffs Bay, a pleasant 10 minute walk away over the golf course, the view from Pennard Castle is breath taking. The chalet is hidden away and very peaceful, but also close to local attractions and whole area is very family friendly, but also perfect for couples. I can't recommend this chalet enough, thank you Liz for a lovely time!
I have already been recommending this chalet to family and friends.
Had a lovely few days. Actually being our second time back here :) The home was even better then the pictures portray and very spacious. There is everything that you need within and the owner is always easy to get a hold of, no stress!
Beautiful views and three cliffs bay only a short walk away.
we really enjoyed having our dinners outside and enjoyed the use of the BBQ. It really does feel like a beautiful hideaway.
We would highly recommend this to any couple but also a group of friends that just want to get away from the city and relax Thanks again Liz, always a fantastic experience!
