I booked 3 nights here for my sister and I to relax and unwind with good wholesome food. We were there out of season (late April 17) which may have affected the service etc however we felt really disappointed with the place and left a night early despite the 50% cancellation fee imposed.

Dinner every night was a basic choice of Greek salad or Green salad and from the grill you had the choice of chicken, meatballs or lamb. No other main meals on offer despite promoting a "variety of local dishes and appealing choices for vegetarians" on their website.

Breakfast was a limited selection placed at the table (no buffet)

Staff would loudly take calls and video calls in the dining room mid service.

The public areas were unlit so felt less welcoming and a bit cold in atmosphere.

It looked like there was a shop in the hotel but it remained closed through our stay.

The yurt mentioned was still under construction so unavailable.

We really felt like we'd imposed staying here rather than the warm and wholesome environment we'd been expecting. I wouldn't return here or recommend it. I commend what the owner has done in rebuilding the village. The property itself is really beautiful, as were the rooms. I especially loved the book collection available.

(Nuts come as standard in each room, a nice touch for many but potentially dangerous for anyone with an allergy.)

Some places are just magical! This is one of them. Food like it is meant to be, great hospitality and a village out of a fairytale .. Sleep is absolutely fabulous, especially if you don't get enough back home!!!

We went to Abeliona knowing absolutely nothing about it. I had imagined fairly rustic, basic accommodation close to two interesting sites, Ancient Olympia and the Temple of Apollo. In fact the place is super luxurious, super well organised with the most accommodating staff one could wish for. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is organic and delicious, the setting is idyllic and local views and walks are amazing. You feel this is 'real' Greece far from the hustle and bustle of tourism and yet offering every comfort to body and soul.

I have been many times there because I love the aura of that place, but the brand new sign-posted trails in the area just upgraded the whole concept. I cannot find a more pleasant way to revitalize yourself than eat healthy, become one with nature and sleep well.

We stayed here for two days, during one of which we visited the Apollo Temple at Bassae. Located high in the mountains, this is a beautifully appointed traditionally styled building characteristic of such mountain areas. This hotel can be used as a base for sight seeing as well as for cycling and mountain biking, but especially for walking.

Some of the roads in the area can be rather challenging and signposting is rather hit and miss as you would expect in a mountainous area. The rewards for visiting are superb. Magnificent views over the surrounding plains and lower mountains, brilliant displays of wild flowers, many species of butterflies and most dramatically, a wide range of wildlife. Eagles are commonly in view, blackbirds, warblers and especially jays frequent the scrub and trees.

The staff are especially friendly and the food they prepare is very high quality and very wholesome, fresh orange juice and an organic yoghurt being served at breakfast. The rooms are quiet large and are delightfully cool, air conditioning is not needed here even in the hottest summer day.

The hotel comprises of a series of blocks at different levels staggered up the hillside. Access to the main hotel block is by foot or by car and there is limited but adequate car parking in the grounds.

The hotel caters for guests during autumn, winter and spring and is not always available during the summer. Prospective guests are advised to contact the hotel during the summer to see if guests are being accepted. At other times of the year this hotel is evidently very busy.

I recommend this hotel without any reservations, it is a beautiful and quiet area to stay in and enjoy another aspect of Greece - it is not all sea and sand!
