“First class skiing holiday hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 January 2012

We have just returned from a last minute holiday organised through Crystal, which included New Year. On arrival at the hotel the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful and we were given room keys straight away (we arrived lunchtime). Our 16 year old daughter had a single room and we had a twin room close by - the room was one of the smaller ones but perfect for us and even had a mini fridge to store some wine! Our rooms and the whole hotel were always kept spotlessly clean at all times. The leisure area was lovely with big pool, jacuzzi then a separate area with sauna & some different hot/cold showers & foot baths - good fun!! Yes as some other reviews said it could be noisy & busy but at 6pm the lights lowered & relaxing music played as the kids left! The ski in ski out was fantastic and also the fact that you could get your skis at the hotel (at end of ski storage room) was so easy, and I also thought they were some of the best hire skis I'd had. We really enjoyed the ski area although the Folgarida side tended to be busier so we spent a lot of time over in the Madonna area which was more picturesque. We enjoyed all our meals, only complaint being to much food! Yes this is a very Italian family based hotel, but we feel they go out of their way to try and accommodate
everyone and I would have no hesitation on recommending it to anyone or going back!

We came here on our honeymoon.
Our room was a lovely size, with the Tyrolean style of two duvets on the double bed. We were lucky to have a balcony which overlooked the Wellness Centre and entrance to the ski run. The bedroom was cleaned and beds made every day during our stay.
The restaurant was great, you had an assigned table for the duration of your stay and the same waiter. We stayed half board, but there was the option of having lunch there also, but as we were skiing we didn't use it. Breakfast was served continental buffet style with fruits, yoghurts, a few cereals, hot dog style sausages, bacon, cheese and hams as well as bread. The only thing we couldn't work out was the juice drinks - I was getting some odd looks as I diluted the orangey flavoured one. I noted that some of the families were using the bread rolls, ham and cheese from breakfast to make up lunches for out on the mountain which was useful for saving some money.
Dinner was a four course meal each night. A word of advice, come down to the restaurant about 20 mins after it opens, as the families will by then be in and you can go straight to the table. Antipasti was already out on the table and once you finished that your starter was brought out. The waiter was very attentive in his duties, however, be careful what you order drinks wise as the bottles of water are not free, you are charged for them at the end of the stay. We had a bottle of water each night which lasted for the meal. In addition to the courses there was also a vegetable buffet made up of salads and cold boiled vegetables (it sounds odd but tastes really nice!). Bread was also on offer with various oils and vinegars for dipping in. You could help yourselves to the buffet at any time and it was unlimited. Dessert was usually buffet style which was great but there was only a finite amount and the table wasn't monitored. I saw one little girl come up with her family and take 5 servings of profiteroles back to her table, just for herself.
The only real complaint I'd have about the food - which they are working on according to the rep - was the translations of the menu and the choice. One night we had an antipasti which we later found out was Tripe in Tuna Sauce, and on our final night the main course choices were either veal, veal or calamari. Apart from those niggles the food was excellent and we left each night stuffed to the gills.
I will point out the hotel (and resort) is heavily Italian which is great but please learn some Italian or take a phrasebook - your efforts will be appreciated.
Each night in the bar area was a piano player and singer who formed part of the Animation team. About 10pm the music would stop and everyone would go downstairs for the rest of the evening's entertainment. The only downside to this was if you went to bed before the entertainment downstairs had finally finished, you could be woken up as the families came past your room.
The final niggle was on the last morning, our coach was supposed to leave at 6am, and we were informed the hotel would put on a breakfast in the bar area from 5.30am. As we found out, their idea of breakfast that early was coffee and a stale danish pastry, there were no other drinks options and the majority of us agreed we would have preferred the extra half hour in bed. If you are having an early get up for the airport, take some food from the buffet the night before.

All in all, we really enjoyed staying at the hotel and would go back there in an instant.

NB. I did not put a rating on the value for money as my husband booked and paid for the honeymoon as a surprise for me.

We stayed here for a week's skiing at the beginning of February. It was a package booked through Crystal.
The hotel was good - well furnished, very clean with friendly welcoming staff apart from 1 very dour receptionist. We had the misfortune to be checked in by her and were told our room would not be ready until 5pm. As it was only 1pm we kicked up a fuss and hey presto a room was found for us ten minutes later by the manager.
The room was small but very clean and comfortable with a reasonable view onto some trees and most importantly it was fairly quiet. - well away from the bar area. The hotel was full of mostly Italian families and there were some quite noisy children. As a tip it would be an idea to email ahead and try to avoid rooms below (515-22) and above the bar and entertainment area. Some Crystal guests were put in these and they complained about the noise.
Food was not fantastic but good and there was lots of it.
The best bit was just being able to put your skis on head down to the lift - only about 100m and the same at the end of the day. The pool and sauna were a relaxing way to round off the day - don't forget to take a swim cap or they won't let you in, though you can buy one.
Not much entertainment outside of the hotel - a good walk to the village with only 1 or 2 bars and shops. Overall we had an enjoyable stay

We've skied in Folgarida the past 2 years both years at the Hotel Caminetto - the first time using RocketSki & the second booking flights and transfers ourselves and the hotel via Rocket as they no longer provided packages for groups smaller than 8.

This year we wanted to go back to the same resort but couldn't face booking everything separately so got a Crystal package to the Park Hotel.

Pros:
- Ski in / ski out (assuming you are not an absolute beginner.
- Food was pretty good. Hot/cold buffet at breakfast and 3-courses plus cold buffet for dinner.
- Everywhere was clean.
- Nice spa with steam room, sauna, pool etc.
- Decent size room.
- Friendly staff.

Cons:
- Noisy, very noisy... this is a family hotel and we often had kids playing outside our room in the hallway plus people clumping up the stairs which we were right next to.
- Dining room was crowded with tables close together and waiters rushing around avoiding the roaming kids. So noisy it was difficult to hold a conversation at normal speaking volume.
- Spa got very busy from around 5pm and was noisy both up until the kids had to leave (6pm) and even afterwards. Often a queue for the sauna & steam room and a '1 in 1 out' policy. However, if you went in at about 3pm it was empty, which was very relaxing.
- Lounge & bar were very noisy. There was a piano & singing in the evenings plus it was always quite crowded. Again, kids running around.
- The Italian guests seemed to be favoured - we of then sat down before but got served after tables of Italians or got passed by at the bar...
- They put our half-finished bottle of red wine in the fridge overnight and served it cold the next evening, even after asking them not to do so - sacrilege!
- Rooms were very hot. we turned the radiator in the room off and the one in the bathroom right down but we were still hot.
- Ski hire not helpful - while we were there one guest was asking for shorter skis as she preferred these but was told 'No, those skis are the right length for you' another guest also asked for short skis (child size) due to the fact they'd had one knee reconstructed - th staff were unhelpful, possibly because they would have had to change the bindings from a pair of adult skis to a pair of childs skis (and back). A friend hired a snowboard and it had not been edged/waxed and the bindings were set up too far forward - when this was pointed out they disagreed and would not change them - I did it myself in the end.
- Did I mention it was very noisy?

Overall we had a good holiday but i would not go back to the Park Hotel or recommend it to anyone who wanted to be able to relax after skiing... unless they were deaf!

Upon arriving the rooms were not ready, although we arrived at 15.00 o'clock.
Saterday the diner was still ok, but later in the week it got worse and worse. Breakfast was also very average with old bread (from the last evening!). Rooms are very noisy and i cannot imagine that anybody has slept well during the week. As the manager of the hotel said: "if you do not like to food you can always change it". The problem with this was only that you would get the same food back! Staff is helpfull, no doubts there. Language pretty ok for a italian hotel. The lounge is also very noisy after skiing. Loud singer and piano palying. Nobody wanted to hear this but there was no other option.
The location is ok, next to slopes.

This Hotel is noisy and boisterous with a lot of large families with children, so if you want a quiet peaceful holiday forget it. There is only one lift and at times this was impossible to get this is because sometimes children were playing in it. The reception staff were polite and as helpful as they could be given the language problem. We had one of the better bedrooms and it was very clean and adequate. The walls are thin and if our neighbours had been english we could have joined in the conversation. The bed was big but very firm therefore we did not get particularly good sleeps.
The Restaurant is the biggest disappointment of all, it was complete havoc children everywhere and noisy. There were not enough waiters and there was a lack of leadership and no sign of a wine waiter. Dirty plates were not cleared away and always a lack of cutlery, when the table was laid up it was a knife and fork and a napkin. There are clearly missing touches and the food at best is 5/10.
The hotel is ski in ski out which is brilliant but no good if you are a 1st timer. Because of it's position it is a bit remote with nowhere to go or walk to. You can use the ski bus or hotel bus but this is a bit hit and miss.
The ski area is excellent but we will not go back to this hotel.

I had a rather stressful ski holiday to the Park Hotel which commenced with confusion over pricing via the agent. Equity Ski and Rocket Ski are the same company but Equity sell all inclusive holidays and Rocket ski are not all inclusive. I rang Equity but somehow got a Rocket package without this being explained, and only discovered it shortly before my party left and we discovered that we had to pay for ski hire, lift pass on top of what we had believed to be an all inclusive price. Despite complaining by phone I have had no recompense, despite writing to the MD I have had no response, and amazingly they seem to think I will buy a holiday with them this ski season - remarkable..
The Park Hotel is offered by Equity/Rocket as a 4 star hotel. We had absolutely dreadful food - it became the nightly joke, not much was edible. What was, was poorly described. For example, my partner had chicken escalope with asparagus - the asparagus was one half of a very thin spear of asparagus cut into three strips!!!!!! The hotel ran out of red wine, tonic water, butter and muesli whilst we were there. Towards the end of the week, there was absolutely nothing healthy to eat for breakfast - only plastic ham, plastic cheese, white rolls and sugary cereal. The hotel is down the slope from the ski area, and high above the village so once there you cannot escape! There is allegedly a free bus going down to the village, but it mysteriously didnt appear when we tried to catch it. We asked about taxis but there are none. The hotel had no cash point and none were evident in the resort so you had to go down to the main village in order to get any cash out. Few shops in the resort took credit/debit cards. On departure there was chaos about whether we had paid for our ski gear (which we had). The ski shop at the hotel is not part of the hotel..be warned. Equity (or was it rocket?) sorted it out eventually but only after several hours of anguish, during which time we anticipated even more expense. You have been warned .....
