We had the chance to stay at Popa Paradise for 2 weeks as volunteers to, mainly, help the staff and owners with hosting a wedding. We had an absolutely wonderful time at Popa: the hotel is beautiful, the beaches are amazing, and the owners and the staff is kind and caring to all customers. We felt as family there and we really hope coming back one day ! Volunteer or customer, we highly recommend this hotel, expect to be..literally in paradise during your stay !

Room Tip: casita 10, the lodge or the penthouse ... there are all fabulous

Thank you so much for staying with us for awhile, and especially for pitching in during the wedding - it was a lot of work for the whole team here, including yourselves, but so satisfying when everything came off "without a hitch"!

Please stay in touch and come see us again some time.

Cheers - Vince and Rosie

A truely unforgettable experience in a top class resort. This resort had everything you could ask for: beautiful white sandy beach, fabulous swimming conditions, free use of kayaks, paddle boards etc, gorgeous big rooms overlooking the beach, a delightful pool (and pool bar ) delicious food and cocktails and above all fantastic helpful and welcoming staff. Rosie and Vince (the owners) can not do enough to ensure your stay is everything it should be. In my view one of the best places to stay in Bocas.

Room Tip: We loved the junior suite but the beachside cabanas are also very popular. We recommend going for the fulñ-board option. It's well worth the extra. Make sure you book early in high season so you are not disappointed.

I stayed with my sister for 3 days and although the hotel was nice and the staff amazing, the owner made our vacation really bad.

Everything started with our room. We had booked a garden room. When we arrived the owner offered us an "upgrade" provided we payed a 75$ per person and per day for the all inclusive option. We felt really blackmailed as the room that we were being offered was terrible and the "upgrade/all inclusive" was really nice. All of this with a practically empty hotel. We didnt go for the all inclusive deal and our relationship with the owner started bad from the very beginning.

The owner kept insisting on offering us drinks even though we didnt feel like it. It felt as if he was pushing the 75$ all inclusive expense anyways.

But the worst part came when we were going to do the check out. Our breakfast was included in our reservation and surprisingly when we got the check he was trying to charge us for it. We raised that issue with the owner and even though it was clear it was an error (it appeared as included in his own papers) he began to negotiate whether the breakfast was included or not. According to him, as he had a problem with our reservation, his suggestion was splitting the difference. He told us that we should pay half of the breakfast. This was insane, our reservation had the breakfast included... And of course, we didnt pay.

In short, a beautiful place is ruined by the owner always pushing for a couple of bucks.

We thank these guests for sharing their experience with the TripAdvisor community. Popa Paradise has never offered a "room plus breakfast" option on any platform, so we really don't know the source of this confusion. We are also glad that these guests found that the "hotel was nice and the staff amazing", despite my unsatisfactory efforts.

For the information of future guests, the meal and beverage options at Popa Paradise are "A la Carte" or "All-Inclusive". The All-Inclusive option is $75 per person per night, plus 7% IBVA. The fee covers all meals, snacks and beverages, including quality beer, wine, cocktails and blender drinks in unlimited quantities.

For those guests that may be more interested in the "A la Carte" option , following are our prices, to help make a choice:

Bottled water / soft drinks / snack foods: $1
Beer (Panamanian domestic, in cans): $2
Wine: $3
Cocktails: $4
Blender Drinks: $5
Breakfast: $10
Lunch: $15
Dinner: $25

Most of our guests choose the All-Inclusive option, and find it to be a good value. We like it because it is easy to administer, and have recently been offering a free room upgrade (subject to availability) as an incentive to make things convenient and carefree for our guests. This is the first time in our experience that a free upgrade to a superior room has been perceived in a negative way; and I clearly failed in presenting the options favorably to these guests.

Regardless of the meal and beverage option you choose, you can count on personal and attentive service, including being asked from time to time if we can get you anything at all.

I volunteered in this hotel for a couple of weeks in February 2017, and had the opportunity to live in the paradise just helping the staff in the daily routine. I met the owners, Rosie and Vince, who were there during my first week, they're the sweetest people! Always asking if I needed something and interacting with the guests in their free time. We spoke a lot, chatted all together with the guests and shared life experiences, generally in the swimming pool drinking some great cocktail or a beer. The hotel is run by two italian managers, Elena and Daniele, who also put all their energies and efforts to the place. In more than a year of struggle they grew up a great staff (all the employees are panamian). They taught me a lot about the locals, their habits, their culture and needs. They sent me out on tour with the guests and with the captains, so that I could discover first hand all the beauties of Bocas. These islands are truly amazing. Wild and nature all around, doplhins, cristal clear water, unexplored beaches, star fish and relaxing vibes all day long.
As for the hotel, the two things I will always remember about it are its beautiful view over the ocean and the top quality cuisine (and I'm italian, not so easy to satisfy if we speak about food).
A little warning for those who would like to visit this magic place: be prepared to the fact that the hotel is quite secluted, so if you spend there more than a week eventually you could get annoyed by not having the possibility to go aroung/away independently, unless you pay for a tour (but kayaks and puddle boards are always available - and free - for short trips). Once you know this, the managers will always organize a tour or something taking into account your needs and what you ask them.
So, thank you all for the wonderful experience and time in Bocas, I alway miss you!
A big hug to Berna!
