I stayed at Popa Paradise Beach Resort for a friend’s wedding. Vince and Rosie, the owners, went out of their way to make sure that you had a fantastic time. We were a group of maybe about 40 people, but they remembered the names of everyone. The rooms were nicely decorated, and the bed was super comfortable. The wedding ceremony at the beach was romantic. The food was also very good: the chef delighted us with seafood and other delicacies. A few of us staying at the hotel were birdwatchers and I have to say we were spoiled. Birdwatching can’t get easier than this: many species of birds visit the hotel ground and there is a jungle forest just behind the hotel: less than 5 minute walk. You could just wait at one spot and let the birds come near to you. This hotel could market itself as a birdwatching destination. The hotel is accessible only by boat and is so isolated that it gives you the feeling of being on a private island. I hope to be able to go back and stay for a longer period to enjoy the property better. Thanks again, Vince and Rosie.

Thank you so much for this detailed and complementary review, and your observations regarding birds in particular. We have long known about the amazing variety of birds that inhabit our island, but this was the first time that we have had the opportunity to become acquainted with expert bird enthusiasts, who spotted 75 species in just a few days. We will be converting a disused water tower into a bird watching observatory, with feeding stations near by. We have also ordered a few copies of "Birds of Panama" as suggested by one of the wedding guests.

We are looking forward to seeing you again!

We spent a week at Popa and were so pleased that we found it. Beautiful beach and pool and the island seems so remote. The owners Vince and Rosey and all of the staff did everything possible to make sure our stay was perfect. The meals were incredible - including bison one night and lobster on another. There are so many activities in the club room and beach gear for the ocean. My personal favorite was the lounge chair on the beach under the palm trees. Many thanks to Popa for a great vacation!

It was a genuine pleasure to host the two of you for your week of relaxation and fun, and we really appreciate the feedback. It was a special treat to be able to offer our home-grown (in Canada) bison tenderloin, and we are very happy that you enjoyed it.

Hoping to see you again,

Vince and Rosie, and all of us here in Paradise

We spent five fabulous days at the Popa Paradise resort in Bocas del Toro Panamá. We attended friends wedding. The staff and owners did an amazing job at making this an unforgettable and enjoyable event. I can't speak highly enough of the care and attention we received from the owners and staff. I recommend it highly without reservation.

My wife, one of our daughters and I spent one week in Popa Paradise. We stayed at the luxury suite and took the all-inclusive option. Our objective was to truly rest and disconnect - After our stay at Popa Paradise we can't think of a better place for it. The resort combines outstanding features that made our stay unique: a warm and personalized behavior from the owners and the staff, an isolated, beautiful and natural location, clean and pleasant facilities, excellent local cuisine and attractive visits (we particularly enjoyed the one to a chocolate factory). A memorable Experience.

We were very pleased to host this family for some true Rest and Relaxation... the Luxury Suite is probably the best room for this purpose, set aside a short distance from the rest of the hotel, with a cooling breeze and amazing sea views on three sides. When our offerings align exactly with what our guests are looking for, life is good!

Hoping to see you again some time - Vince and Rosie

We had the chance to stay at Popa Paradise for 2 weeks as volunteers to, mainly, help the staff and owners with hosting a wedding. We had an absolutely wonderful time at Popa: the hotel is beautiful, the beaches are amazing, and the owners and the staff is kind and caring to all customers. We felt as family there and we really hope coming back one day ! Volunteer or customer, we highly recommend this hotel, expect to be..literally in paradise during your stay !

Room Tip: casita 10, the lodge or the penthouse ... there are all fabulous

Thank you so much for staying with us for awhile, and especially for pitching in during the wedding - it was a lot of work for the whole team here, including yourselves, but so satisfying when everything came off "without a hitch"!

Please stay in touch and come see us again some time.

Cheers - Vince and Rosie

A truely unforgettable experience in a top class resort. This resort had everything you could ask for: beautiful white sandy beach, fabulous swimming conditions, free use of kayaks, paddle boards etc, gorgeous big rooms overlooking the beach, a delightful pool (and pool bar ) delicious food and cocktails and above all fantastic helpful and welcoming staff. Rosie and Vince (the owners) can not do enough to ensure your stay is everything it should be. In my view one of the best places to stay in Bocas.

Room Tip: We loved the junior suite but the beachside cabanas are also very popular. We recommend going for th...

I stayed with my sister for 3 days and although the hotel was nice and the staff amazing, the owner made our vacation really bad.

Everything started with our room. We had booked a garden room. When we arrived the owner offered us an "upgrade" provided we payed a 75$ per person and per day for the all inclusive option. We felt really blackmailed as the room that we were being offered was terrible and the "upgrade/all inclusive" was really nice. All of this with a practically empty hotel. We didnt go for the all inclusive deal and our relationship with the owner started bad from the very beginning.

The owner kept insisting on offering us drinks even though we didnt feel like it. It felt as if he was pushing the 75$ all inclusive expense anyways.

But the worst part came when we were going to do the check out. Our breakfast was included in our reservation and surprisingly when we got the check he was trying to charge us for it. We raised that issue with the owner and even though it was clear it was an error (it appeared as included in his own papers) he began to negotiate whether the breakfast was included or not. According to him, as he had a problem with our reservation, his suggestion was splitting the difference. He told us that we should pay half of the breakfast. This was insane, our reservation had the breakfast included... And of course, we didnt pay.

In short, a beautiful place is ruined by the owner always pushing for a couple of bucks.

We thank these guests for sharing their experience with the TripAdvisor community. Popa Paradise has never offered a "room plus breakfast" option on any platform, so we really don't know the source of this confusion. We are also glad that these guests found that the "hotel was nice and the staff amazing", despite my unsatisfactory efforts.

For the information of future guests, the meal and beverage options at Popa Paradise are "A la Carte" or "All-Inclusive". The All-Inclusive option is $75 per person per night, plus 7% IBVA. The fee covers all meals, snacks and beverages, including quality beer, wine, cocktails and blender drinks in unlimited quantities.

For those guests that may be more interested in the "A la Carte" option , following are our prices, to help make a choice:

Bottled water / soft drinks / snack foods: $1
Beer (Panamanian domestic, in cans): $2
Wine: $3
Cocktails: $4
Blender Drinks: $5
Breakfast: $10
Lunch: $15
Dinner: $25

Most of our guests choose the All-Inclusive option, and find it to be a good value. We like it because it is easy to administer, and have recently been offering a free room upgrade (subject to availability) as an incentive to make things convenient and carefree for our guests. This is the first time in our experience that a free upgrade to a superior room has been perceived in a negative way; and I clearly failed in presenting the options favorably to these guests.

Regardless of the meal and beverage option you choose, you can count on personal and attentive service, including being asked from time to time if we can get you anything at all.
