There is only one place to eat in Manapouri at night and that's at The Church. The people are friendly and this is an OK place for a quick drink apart from the high cost of a beverage. For a house wine and a beer was just under $20.

The food was average pub grub. I ordered a chicken burger and the chicken was deep fried and looked like it came from a packet.

I liked the architecture being a converted church. And I can imagine it's a nice spot to sit in the sun on a warm day.

We were exploring the Lake Manapouri area one afternoon. The plan was to head back to Te Anau for dinner. But as we were getting ready to leave Manapouri we noticed what looked like a restaurant in an old church and decided to stop in. This is in fact a former church, one of which I do not know the history. There is a main floor that is fairly open with a bar, pool table and seating options. There's also an upstairs area and an upstairs patio. We sat out on the upstairs patio and had dinner and drinks. The server was very friendly, and the food did not disappoint.

This is such an interesting venue worth stopping in, even if just for a drink.

Staying in a local motel so called in here for dinner in view of the great reviews. Gorgeous waitress but to be honest lost the plot. Started with new season Bluff oysters which were good then onto burgers. Mine was great but despite asking for salad instead of chips, it arrived with chips and no salad but quickly rectified. I asked for my wife's burger to come with no BBQ sauce but arrived with said BBQ sauce. The waitress took it away, only for the burger to come back with tomato sauce! Hello!? Very apologetic, and removed the cost of my wife's meal. Disastrously funny.

Being one of the only places to eat in Manapouri, we were glad to find The Church open for dinner. My mate had the chicken schnitzel, and I had the beef ribeye steak. Both were nicely presented and cooked well. The serving size was ample. Drinks abound. The atmosphere is "local pub." The staff amd patrons are friendly and welcoming.
