We stayed for two nights and found hotel to be very good our room had a beautiful view of the bay from our balcony, very spacious and comfortable , bathroom also much larger than average , maybe looking a little tired, but in no way detracts from lovely stay , breakfast was very good ,we ate in restaurant one night and had a lovely meal , all in all would recommend this hotel , would just say that if within your budget book a superior balcony room worth the extra price just for the view !!

Sound couple of days over the weekend - service and staff very friendly, attentive and on the ball - room excellent with a massive view of the bay - great sunrise on both mornings, couldn't fault it - Food good and a tip if your eating in the restaurant - the most expensive is not the best ! Try the local pie or fish and the gammon is spot on !!
As per previous reviews hotel could do with a bit of updating in certain areas but nothing that disturbed our visit ! - Tip 2;- the beach is tops with a carpark just at the bottom of the beach road but be aware the road from the carpark is sloped and needs careful attention if you're anyway dodgy on your feet !!

Room Tip: Ask for a top balcony room - Jarvis being the best

My older children presented me with a one night break for hubby and me at this hotel for my 50th. The weather forecast was not good but we did not care, as we love nearby Whitby and rarely get time to ourselves. We were quickly booked in and shown to our room, which had a view over the bay. There was an extra heater and blanket in the wardrobe, in case it would get cold and the heating would not suffice (it did). The room was cozy, clean with towels and toiletries and kettle and tea and coffee. The en-suite had a bath with one of these shower attachments available, that you put over the taps. The TV was working fine and there is a telephone for room service. Wifi was accessed quickly and worked well. It is a dog friendly hotel but we heard no barking at all (dog owners ourselves, so would have been no issue).
The food in the restaurant was delicious. The chef there really knows his craft. Breakfast the next morning was lovely, the food is locally sourced and tasted like it. Not your average supermarket meat. We will be back but hopefully for a two night stay or a long weekend.

Room Tip: Some rooms have showers, balconies, less stairs

The forecast was good so we booked a night at this lovely hotel.
We were not disappointed at all.
The hotel is spotlessly clean, the Staff friendly and the food was superb.
But the unexpected bonus was the fabulous views over Runswick Bay.
We will definitely be returning.

We stayed here for one night only for a birthday treat. Location is everything with this hotel. We had a side room with lovely sea view. It is a 10 minute walk down to the bay via a steep climb....needless to say easier going down.
The room, if sightless dated was very spacious, clean and comfy.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was slightly disappointing. The order was mixed up twice and when it did arrive, slightly lukewarm. However, we would return in a heartbeat. Take a torch if you intend a trip to the pub.

Room Tip: Go for sea views
