Beautiful villa, amazing location - can’t fault it!
We used Orient Escapes for our transfers from and to the airport; outside the airport there was a representative waiting, and the minibus was on time and air conditioned! We had an early return journey (3.15am pick up) and the driver was on time too. Transfer time was about an hour, although heavy traffic made it a bit longer.
Lillian was so helpful during our stay. Any issues were sorted very quickly!
The photos really don’t do the villa justice! A real “wow!” moment when you walk in, it’s so light and spacious.
The villa is situated in a gated community of villas called “Kata Gardens.” It is on the only road between Kata Beach and the quieter Kata Noi Beach. It is a 5-minute walk to either beach, although we preferred Kata Noi as it was quieter.
There is an on-site restaurant, serving pizzas. It is a bit pricey but handy if you wanted a quick takeaway.
Kata Noi can be reached by walking out of Kata Gardens and turning left, walking past Mom Tri’s restaurant and villas, and then down the steps on the right-hand side of the road. There is a bar at the far end of Kata Noi which serves drinks and snacks and a cafe set back from the middle of the beach. Kata Beach is out of Kata Gardens and down the hill to the right, here you’ll find supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, bars and pharmacies. The beach is busier than Kata Noi, but there is kayak/paddle board/body board hire by Kata Mama Seafood which was really nice to do at around 5 pm when it got cooler and the sun went down!
If you walk down to Kata Beach, on the left-hand side of the road at the bottom of the hill is a couple of supermarkets which we used for beers, snacks etc.
Taxis are also located here; don’t be worried about these! We were a bit cautious of being ripped off or mobbed by taxi drivers but it is so well organised. There are a group of taxi drivers who wait for customers, with one “main” guy who organises who will take you where. Prices can be agreed beforehand and they are reasonably priced. It is about 400B for a taxi for 6 people to Heaven Bar/Baan Chom View.
Down the road there are many restaurants and cafes, we just used TripAdvisor to choose which ones we’d go to!
There is a pharmacy down the main road on the right-hand side, next to a tattoo parlour called “Kata Pharmacy”, the pharmacist speaks good English here and prices are reasonable.
The villa is on the top floor of a “block” of three other villas. There is a gate/door which separates the stairs to the rooftop pool and the villa front door from the main stairs which was handy as you can lock this door and so leave the main villa door open allowing easy access between rooftop and villa.
You walk into the villa and there is a hallway area, the kitchen is off to the right and the lounge/dining areas are open plan in front of you. The master bedroom is off the lounge to the left, with the other two bedrooms and bathroom to the right. The master bedroom and lounge share a large balcony which has views over Kata Beach. The second bedroom has a private balcony with the same views, and the third bedroom’s balcony is set back from the rest with the same views over Kata.
The kitchen had everything you would need if you wanted to cook meals. Also has a dishwasher and washing machine. We really appreciated the juice, eggs and bread which was in the fridge when we arrived.
Plenty of seating in the lounge/dining areas. There is a large TV and a collection of dvds.
The master bedroom is so beautiful and huge too! The bathroom is also huge, with an amazing spa bathtub and waterfall shower.
Second and third bedrooms were well-sized too, beds were all very comfortable and the air conditioning and fans worked well. The main bathroom was also a good size.
The main balcony outside the lounge had a large dining table, which was perfect for breakfast! Amazing views over Kata Beach, the main road offers great entertainment when you watch the driving!
The rooftop terrace is amazing! It truly makes this property. There are two tables, five sun-loungers and a “cabana” shaded area with a large seat. The private pool is a good size, perfect for cooling off in. There is also another dining table on the terrace which offers amazing views over Kata. At night you can sit up there and watch the lanterns and fireworks on Kata Beach, as well as the amazing lightning over the hills!
As a couple we took 1200GBP and this was enough to pay for a meal for two each night (14 nights) and also a trip which was 100GBP. We got an exchange rate of 42Baht to 1GBP, however, the exchange rate at the currency exchanges in Kata was 44Baht to 1GBP, so you could consider changing money out there!
Meals and drinks were extremely cheap if you went to the more local places, however, the “posher” places such as Mom Tri’s and The Boathouse really knew how to charge!
We went to the Green Elephant Sanctuary which was an amazing morning (6.30am-12.30pm). A great experience; you don’t ride the elephants so it was much nicer than the other more commercialised elephant experiences. This was 50GBP each.
We also went on a trip to the Similan Islands; it was from 6am-8.30pm, such a long day! We booked it as we didn’t want to do the Phi Phi Islands as we had heard they were really commercialised and crowded. The Similan Islands were sold as a quieter, “undiscovered” trip. But this was not the case, you could hardly see the beach for tourists and it was really disappointing to see it that way. We wouldn’t recommend this trip at all!
Wall to wall sunshine our entire trip! It was so hot everyday! Would recommend taking mosquito spray as a few of us got bitten.
We have been home less than three days and we all wish we could still be here! Amazing holiday, and I already can’t wait to go back!
This villa is an incredible piece of property located a short walk from two great beaches. The villa is exactly as it is pictured with clean spacious rooms, comfortable beds and great internet access! The hospitality provided by Lillien and Graham was top notch. We especially appreciated the water, eggs, and other refreshments that were in the room when we arrived. We would definitely recommend this villa and hope to be back in the future.
