“Perfect 4* hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2012

Stayed at Vale D'El Rei for 2 nights from the 18th-20th March 2012 and I have to say that this Is the best 4* hotel I have stayed in- the service from all at the reception was faultless and all could not do enough for you! We had a standard room an The rooms were basic but clean and modern which had everything you needed for you stay. As part of your room rate you can have free use of the spa relaxation room which consists of a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room between the hours of 4pm-6pm. This had to be booked in advance but as the hotel seemed empty this was no problem. It was marvellous just to spend an hour relaxing in tranquility.. Didn't eat in the restaurant as we ordered room service for both evenings but this was brilliant- the prices were reasonable and included full main meals- all of which were very affordable and were delivered to the room within 20 minutes.. As other posters have mentioned you do really need to hire a car as the location is quite remote, however I would definitely return here again for the price that we paid an the fantastic service we received.. Thanks to all at Val D'El Rei!

Normally I would rate this hotel as a five not a four. The only big downside we could find was the food. They are disorganized and it seems the chef isn't tasting the food before it goes out. Breakfast is good though just was dissapointed in dinners. Paula at the front desk is so amazingly professional and helpful and nice we couldnt believe our luck. The hotel itself is beautiful, not ocean front but very well maintained and pretty. Room 201 has a nice sunny balcony but a air conditioner/heater on the terrace that blows out hot/cold air constantly and spoils the terrace completely. Make sure you have a car for driving the areas. Beautiful place! Oh and nearbty are two great restaurants.. antonios and el Rustico. Owned by brothers, very reasonable and great food!

Arrived on 17th feb had the place to ourselves for a day this was bliss, travelled with my wife for her 50th birthday treat. The hotel, The food, The staff, were all fantastic, even got a birthday cake and champagne on my wifes birthday on the house.
I would reccomend hiring a car but this is not essential as we used the local buses and taxis, there is a bus depot in lagoa and you can go any where from here for a few euro.
We went to Portimao, Lagos, Albuffera, even to lagos zoo 2 buses.
The weather was fantastic this week, got a nce tan.
Will definately be going back to this hotel in the future.

Room Tip: room 207 corner suite view of pool and fantastic surroundings

We had a wonderful week here from 20th-27th September. It was our first holiday with our 10 month old baby and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Other guests and staff were very kind towards our baby (the only child in the hotel) which really enhanced our experience. We stayed in a townhouse, which was perfect and enormous. Our baby even had his own en-suite! We were thrilled that we chose the half board option, because the food was terrific. Congratulations to the chef and waiting staff .A varied 3 course dinner every night, with waiter service and a super breakfast.

The hotel is quiet, relaxed and classy. It is kept spotlessly clean, the two pools are large and we spent lots of time enjoying the peaceful ambience. We were pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the drinks were - 9 E for a bottle of wine, 4 E for a cocktail. The hotel is situated in the countryside, about 10 minutes drive from Carvoeiro and the beaches. We hired a car, but lots of the other guests used the mini bus service and taxis.

Thank you to everyone at Vale D'el Rei!

Fantastic hotel.
Would recommend to anyone and everyone.
Only downside was distance from beach, other restaurants, supermarket, yes there is a courtesy mini bus but only runs three times a day,so would recommend car hire.
First time ever found the photos in a brochure actually match the accomadation avaliable, was as amazing as it looks.
Staff always happy to help.
We stayed in a suite, did look at villas for next time as eating in restaurants all week for lunch and dinner costly but then again we were on holiday, no more expensive than eating out at home.
Bed and breakfast worth doing as Buffet breakfast one of best have seen, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cheese, salmon, cucumber, tomato, cooked breakfast, various breads, pastries, dried fruit , cereal, fruit juice, hot drinks, and more.
Perfect 10 out of 10.

Room Tip: The hotel as set away from any thing else so all sides quiet, really peaceful setting.

Just had a weeks break at this resort. The resort is exactly as it looks on the web site. The staff are proffessional, friendly and knowledgable. The hotel is some what isolated , although there is a curtesy bus to Carvoeiro 3 time as day but I would recommend a car if you want to get out and about.

The rooms were pleasant and spacious with balconies either overlooking the pool, gardens or mountains. There were plenty of sun beds around the pool and also spread out within the grounds. We were on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast was brilliant with lots of choice from a full cooked breakfast, cold meats, cheese, fruit etc. A very enjoyable break but may be too quiet for people who enjoying the night life.

I do not normally pass comment on holiday accomodation as most of it is fairly standard however, this resort is a cut above the rest . We will be returning in the near future.

Room Tip: We had a first floor double room which overlooked the grounds. Nice and quiet at night.

THis hotel is situated about a ten minute drive from the major local town and you would need a car if you were going to travel to it as there is not much around the hotel. The hotel looks great, very flash. rooms are big and well decorated. Rooms either look over the pool area or out over the surrounding mountains and coutryside.

The one great thing about this hotel is the breakfast, it is served besida the pool, the majority of the seats are outside so when it does rain it can get a little bit tight for space inside and you may have to wait to get a seat. The selection and quality of the food was great, everything ranging from fresh bed and pastries to smoked salmon and sparkling wine. You can help yourself to as much sparkling wine if you want. Some days they had freshly squeezed orange juice whcih was great but then half way through our trip they changed over to the cheap stuff.

The hotel has a little spa area which you can use, it is quite small so you have to book in advance,m free of charge. Includes sauna, steam room and jacuzi. Not a place for families or small kids as not much to do there, great for couples or a relaxing break
