The only reason this hotel isn't my first 5-star rating is because management here decided to cancel the kid's mini-disco, without warning, bringing our little boy to tears. Despite sending a letter to management (in Spanish) while at the hotel, no apology was received. Other bad points: the location of the hotel isn't that great either, about 2 miles from Alcudia proper. The road outside the hotel is lethal...a dual carriageway with no crossing, so be careful...typical Spanish urban and road planning! However, there are lots of non-descript local bars and restaurants around and a couple of tatty rip-off shops across the road (watch out for the shop across the road -- think it was a SPAR--selling out of date products). The gym is also pretty rubbish.

Everything else about this place is fantastic! The beach is out of this world, so too is the food and the entertainment. All of the mostly German entertainment and Star club staff were fantastic, although overworked and undervalued by management. We especially loved the special touch when Smiley the dog came to our room to welcome us on arrival. Our little boy was going on about Smiley for weeks afterwards! The rooms are very spacious and modern, and the food is better than any in the 5 or so similarly marketed 4/5 hotels we've stayed in over the past few years, with a very good mixture of Spanish, Majorcan and international foods, cava a fresh patisserie at breakfast and a good variety of show cooking. It was substantially better than the food in the Playa de Muro hotel next door, and a much better atmosphere too.

This hotel is fantastic in our opinion. We stayed in a suite overlooking the pool with sea view! We had a large balcony and stayed on the first floor. The room was very clean and spacious and was comfortable for our needs. It was cleaned every day to high standard.
We only had to walk a few minutes to the beach bar terrace and another few seconds to a lovely beach. The sea was crystal clear and very calm.
The restaraunt was high standard and always something for every one to choose from to eat. The staff all were very courteous and always willing to smile and help.
The entertainment was good enough to watch, after a day of relaxing and eating drinking etc.
We took a trip to see a show which was called 'Come Fly with me' this was a terrific show and we would recomend it to anyone as it was so good!
Our rep Sharia was very helplful and and always smiling and full of information to do with the resort.
We are very happy with our choice of hotel and would recommend it.

We booked to spend 10 days here on a half board basis, with our 7 year old daughter, again having sifted through feedback, photos, etc etc, and, in a nutshell, it was great!
I am glad we chose the village over the hotel, as the village is much quieter, but you have the convenience of using the hotel facilities if you wish (but not the other way around!).
Location is great - it is on the beach. However, as mentioned in previous postings, if you want to vegetate on the beach for a couple of weeks, the loungers have to be booked and paid for. However, you can easily have a lounger for free within the village grounds and just wander 10 paces on to the beach! Not really an issue - and not one for us as we did not want to spend 10 days on a beach.
Facilities are good, the pools are great, and the kids club and evening entertainment for adult and kids alike are great. Even now, a few weeks later, my daughter is still singing the songs they were taught; in Spanish... Italian... !!
Food - is fabulous. we were half board, and it is a buffet service, and eat as much as you like, which of course we did - well we're on holiday! Food was varied from day to day, and there was an excellent choice. Again waiters, and chefs were superb.
Rooms (apartment style) were well equiped, and clean and tidy.
Staff curteous - yes not all spoke perfect English, but thet never was an issue, as if you had a complex question, they would simply find someone who did.
Overall - it was a great way to spend 10 day - great hotel, great pools, great beach, great food and great service.
To be recommended!

Had 2 weeks holiday with my wife and 7 year old daughter on an all inclusive basis. It's definitely worth paying the extra as drinks, snacks and meals would soon mount up.

Dining arrangements are superb with a wide choice available to suit all tastes. The waiter service is excellent and all the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful.

Standards, quality and attention to detail throughout the hotel complex are excellent, particularly around the pool and the dining areas.

We had a family suite and there was plenty of room. Would comfortably accommodate another one or two children. Maid service was daily and cleaning to a high standard.

Location is in a quieter area but there are regular buses into Alcudia and taxis are reasonable value. Having direct access to the beach is good but you do have to pay for sunbeds on the beach as they are separate from the hotel. It's easier (and cheaper) to use your towel on the beach.

I would highly recommend this hotel. It is a little more expensive than some of the other hotels we have stayed in but we definitely got value for money.

Would definitely return.

I have just returned from a weeks holiday at this Hotel and to be honest the hotel and staff are good but it does seem to have some issues with the food they try to cater for to many nationalitys so never seem to get it right. If your in spain you should eat spainish food not English,German ect. The staff on the Bar next to the beach on the playa de muro hotel side are not friendly in fact some times very rude the food is the same stuff they served last year,The hotel is mainly ocupied by Germans and Dutch and they seem to like this way, I found most of these guests rude and there children seem to need the meaning of manners. After saying all that you would think I would never go there again and you would be wrong the hotel is worth the price is you require a nice peaceful holiday with a young family, the beach is great but you need to get on the beach asap to book you sun loungers for the duration of your holiday one week cost me £51.00 euros for two loungers.

Having done cheap last minute in 2009 at the bougenvilla in Sa Coma, we love Majorca and wanted to go back in 2010 booking earlier and get hopefully a nicer holiday, we booked the Iberostar Playa de Muro village in Alcudia paying £2200 for 2 adults 1 child 4yrs and infant under 1, and looking at the photos in the brochure it looked really nice, but having stayed there the pictures in the brochure undersold the hotel in my opinion,

Having arrived first impressions were wow, it was an amazing place, I travelled with my wife and our 2 son’s ages 4yrs and 9 months, and this was our 3rd trip to Majorca,
Having done cheap in 2009 we were adamant that we needed space in the room / suite for the boys to crash out, later in the day prior to getting our glad rags on for dinner etc,

The Bedroom
Our bedroom was a nice surprise, we had 2 double beds buffered up, and that was just for me and the wife, with double wardrobe space and lots of other room with a sliding door into the terrace,
Leading out from our room was the living room with 2 sofas that when the top cover was taken off was a bed for our eldest, then there was a proper Cot and proper mattress for our baby, ( I always fear the travel cot with the wafer thin mattress)

Off the living room was another patio door leading onto the terraced area, the terraced area could have easily fitted 8 chairs and a couple of tables load of room so that was great, with views around the bay of Alcudia,
The bathroom was big with a double width sink with the usual bath shower and WC,

The Pool area was perfect, there were 3 pools in fact 1 was the big 1.6 Mtr and one was a figure of 8 more shallow depth with a bridge over the middle which was great when in the old rubber ring going underneath with the kids,
Just behind the pool about 10 meters away were the AI (or payable per day) buffet restaurant which was pure a-la-carte, and looked really nice, next to that was the drinks bar where you could sit overlooking the bay from a high point over the entire stretch of beach,

Just behind the beach bar was quite a large area which was mainly sun loungers with lots of palm trees providing dappled shade which was great when the eldest wanted to play with diggers as I would sit up there on a lounger as well, there wasn’t access to the beach from there and it felt really safe,

From the Drinks and food area there was a footpath which after 8 meters or so took you down to the white powder soft beach, and even in June I was surprised to be able to wade out quite far without the water rising above my waist, and the waters were really warm,

The Restaurant
Presentation was excellent, silver service and waiting no long than 10 seconds from the moment you are sat down to be delivered Tea and Coffee, nothing is too much for the front of house staff and chefs,

Breakfast,
Table service for Tea and Coffee, go up and help yourself to a massive range of food, from classic cereals, toasts, rolls, yogurts, croissants, and pastries to the fruit buffet of mango, kiwi, melons, apples, pears, bananas, and around half a dozen fruits that look like they have come from I am a celebrity, and there was also the smoothie person mixing up the fruit for a nice breakfast drink, to the full on beans, sausages, hash browns, Parma ham, cheese and salad ranges,

Dinner

I don’t know what to say about this really other than fro my honeymoon we stayed at the Le-Mura Resort in praslin in the Seychelles which was a 5 star resort, but the food at the Iberostar village was on another level I am a vegetarian and often enough am presented with the usual spaghetti with tomato sauce on holiday, as 1 of 4 options, but here there I would say just under half the buffet of around 120 dishes didn’t contain meat, from some of the Spanish tapas to the 5 different types of Paella including Vegetarian, & Goats cheese tartlets and tons of lush food, I was eating around 4 – 5 dishes a night.

The Kids Club Day
Our son went to the kids club for just 2 mornings he did really enjoy it but in all honesty we were only one of a few English families in the hotel, the rest being German and mainly Spanish, and the staff were very entertaining doing all kinds of crafts and one morning they brought ponies, and all the kids came out with face pained moustaches as cowboys - cowgirls and were riding around with the ponies, with a parent holding the reins walling up and down a track, within the grounds of the kids club is a large park area with swings and slides, and even if you do not want to put your kid in the club you can still go in the hut and borrow buckets and spades etc as they have tons of them.,

Kids club evening,
Started at 8:30 with classic songs like like Veo Veo, and thankfully not a black lace song in sight, didn’t go on for too long about 30 mins in total, took place next door at the Playa de Muro Hotel, so you could walk away if you like,

Summery,
The Village and Hotel are next door to each other and whilst the hotel is quite large and looked pretty packed every day the village appeared to look less crammed and without sounding snobby more chic, and minimalist, and modern the pools were really packed and we go sunbeds even at 4:00pm in the afternoon once having been out for the day, where as the hotel pool always looked busy,

Reception in the village called our room 5 times whist we were there to ask if everything was ok and if there was anything else we required, the staff and customer experience was amazing, I would thoroughly recommend the Iberostar Village to anyone, having previously never visited a hotel twice I would not hesitate to go again next year or year after,
