In June 2007 my daughter started looking for a venue for her wedding which was held in July this year. Through her searches on the web she found the Dusit Thani and wedding chapel on the lagoon in Phuket. This started a series of email exchanges in which we booked the hotel accommodation, wedding ceremony and wedding function. The whole process was so simple and relatively stress free. The event coordinator was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Any anxiety we had before we arrived in Phuket disappeared at the hotel where we met with the coordinator who showed us around including taking us to the beautiful chapel on the lagoon and showing us the venue for the dinner function, the Casuarina Beach Restaurant which is picturesque sitting at the edge of the beach.

The attention to detail of the staff, their friendliness and professionalism made the wedding day and our stay even better then we could have hoped for.

We stayed in a sea view room. Room was immaculate and always kept tidy by staff. There is a large pool, tennis court and table tennis on the grounds. They have activities each day, but you need to show interest in advance. If you just rock up and you are the only one, then they won't run the activity. The night markets they have at the resort are very ordinary (carved soaps, shirts).

As for dining there: Breakfast is great (included in our stay). Compared to what you would pay for dining in Australia, we thought it was expensive to eat there (typical resort prices). We saw that a bottle of Moet at the restaurant was about AU$600 (retails for $80 in Australia, so you can see the mark up). We ate along the beach most of the time. The quality is still OK, but prices are much less. The resort has happy hour for cocktails (2 for 1). We also ordered some poolside food aswell. It was good, and not bad value, compared to what you pay for dinners. There is a little bakery type place at the little shopping village just outside the resort (use the free boat service to get there for added fun). The soup and pizza are really good. We ended our stay with a meal at the thai restaurant on the lagoon side of the resort. The food and service was great.

I had a massage by the locals and also with the Angsana Spa. Even though a large price difference, if you have back trouble already, like myself, you wont appreciate the local ladies pushing their feet into your back and stretching you out. I preferred to pay 3,300Baht or so to have a massage by qualified people. Otherwise, half hour massage at resort by locals is about 500Baht.

The pool is great to laze around. There are plenty of trees, which is what we like.

Overall, it was a great resort and compared to the other resorts around the laguna, ours seemed better by far.

The beach was not suitable for swimming at June.

We got married at the Laguna Wedding Chapel, stayed at the
Dusit Laguna for 16 nights, had our cocktail and wedding reception at the Dusit and had an absolutely fantastic time.

We have numerous guests that travelled from Ireland, England and Australia who travelled to be with us on our special day and stayed at the Dusit. They also had a magnificient time and were treated fabulously.

The Staff and facilities were wonderful - all the staff did everything posisble to ensure that we had a lovely time. The beach and pool were fabulous and the restaurants on site in particular the Causurina were amazing. I have not had one bad thing to say about our stay at the Dusit.

Pefect Hotel, Perfectly located

Praisie the Sales Manager co-ordinated our wedding and make everything appear so easy and stress free. Our day was perfect even better than we imagined.

Overall an excellent stay with particularly charming and helpful staff. I would go back in a heart beat.

This was our 3rd holiday in Phuket, second to the resort and first to the Dusit. It was by far our best holiday, the hotel was perfect, nice room, friendly staff and the hotel was small enough to be recognised by staff and feel at home. We could see the Ocean from our room and could step outside to the lovely gardens, pool or beach. The restaurants were all of an excellent qulaity and we cannot wait to go back. The very best part was a visit from the baby elephants which made our holiday. We had the advantage of seeing the brand new pool villas while we were there and if any one likes luxury they are your rooms.
