The hotel is perched above the water close to the sea lock of the Crinan Canal. Most or possibly all of the rooms are at the front so have great views over the water and out to some of the islands. The bulding is perhaps slightly old-fashioned in style but comfortable.

We felt that £45 for dinner in the main restaurant was a little pricey so opted for the Seafood Bar where we ate really well for much less.

There is an interesting small art gallery on the top floor.

What a beautiful location. We were at the Crinan with a voucher and what a room we were given. The room was very spacious and spotless. We could see over to the Paps of Jura and got some great photos. The food was delicious. The staff could not have been more attentive. We had a lovely break. We would recommend this hotel for a quiet break to enjoy the great food and drink. Not forgetting the company. We will defo be back.

Room Tip: Room 6 has great views.

We stayed here for an overnight as part of an accommodation deal, and were pleasantly surprised with this beautifully located hotel at the Crinan canal basin. A warm welcome was given on arrival and after an efficient check-in, we were shown to a comfortable standard double room on the second floor. The spacious room with ensuite facilities and spectacular views over the Western Isles was quiet and relaxing. An excellent and reasonably priced evening meal in the seafood bar rounded of an excellent day. After a good night sleep, a superb breakfast was waiting in the main dining room which also afforded excellent views out over the sea and nearby islands. All the staff were extremely friendly and keen to promote the local area and ensuring we were aware of all the possible attractions and activities available locally. The top floor of the hotel has painting and viewing galleries overlooking the canal basin and Western Isles, and many local paintings for sale.

This was a Christmas present and just a one night stay. Quite remote location and hard to find, but well worth the effort. We had a room with balcony on the top floor, there is a lift, lovely room
very comfortable. Food is mainly seafood, no prawns though, was okay but if we were there longer than one day then would probably go out for meals, however breakfast was very nice.
Owners friendly and helpful. Views to die for amazing !
We would go back again for longer.

Dear Star Q,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Tripadvisor. We are really happy you enjoyed your stay and delighted you were introduced to us as a Christmas present.

I am sorry you did not have the opportunity to sample our world famous prawns. As you may be aware we only serve fresh produce so prawns are only on the menu if the prawn fisherman has landed his catch that same day.

It is wonderful to hear that you would like to return for a longer stay and you would be more than welcome, hopefully you will sample our prawns then. We thank you again for your review.

Kind regards

Sorry..I really tried to enjoy
Too old, too arrogant, took my mother, I travel and have been away for a while, this was a real treat, looking forwards to real sea food.
I felt I was assessed not welcomed by waiters, and quite frankly the whole place needs a makeover from customer care, quality and pricing.
1980's, nothing more..

Room Tip: when the weather is good, the location is exquisite....

Dear Alistair W,

We are very sorry you did not enjoy you visit to our Seafood Bar. It saddens us to hear when guests do not enjoy their experience when visiting our hotel.

We do try hard to make sure everyone enjoys their time at Crinan, I hope that one day you may visit our hotel again and we will have the opportunity to show you a true Scottish welcome.

We bought a voucher on impulse from Itison and stayed at The Crinan Hotel the very next night. The hotel is quirky but very pleasant and so peaceful, our room (no 1) looked staright out to sea as did our table in the restaurant for dinner and again breakfast. It was very quiet but a really nice place to relax. Dinner was nice, breakfast was great! Contrary to some reviews the service was excellent.

Old hotel by at entrance to Western end of Crinan Canal. We had a lovely room with quite spectacular view over water. Very comfy bed and nicely (country house style) decoration. Ensuite a bit dated but very clean and more than adequate.good over bath shower.
Ate at lunch time in bar - very acceptable and looked at dining room for evening (nowhere else to eat in Crinan) however no a la carte menu only overpriced set menu. funnily enough the dining room was empty so went to join crowd in bar. Once again very acceptable - mainly very interesting seafood.
Breakfast excellent.
This is an overlooked beautiful part of Argyle. Definitely worth a visit.
Be sure to take your walking boots/shoes and walk the canal - only 9 miles and very beautiful.

Room Tip: Rooms to front have spectacular view but some side rooms have balconies.

Dear dominiesabroad,

Thank you for your review. I am glad that you found your room comfortable and clean and I am happy you appreciate our old world charm.

I am also glad that you enjoyed the food at the Crinan Hotel. As you rightly pointed out we have two restaurants, the fine dining Westward Restaurant and the more informal Seafood Bar, giving our guests choice and dining options.

This is a beautiful part of the Scottish coastline and you have given sound advice in your review by recommending guests bring their walking boots to take advantage of our great outdoors. We hope we will have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Crinan in the near future.

Kind regards
