We stayed at Windy Ridge, at the end of October 2011. The weather was good and that made the experience all the better. Windy Ridge is a wonderful place to stay. Nick who runs it made us feel like we were at home. We had a lovely room looking over both the front and back gardens. Oh and what gardens they are! Beautifully laid out and although late in Autumn, still full of colour. The house boasts its own arboretum which was wonderful in the autumn sunshine There is a large guest lounge complete with wood panelling and stocked with books and magazines and a large TV. Breakfast is served in a large room with its own fountain. There is a large and very eclectic collection of ornaments statues and pictures, which give a very homely and cozy feel the house.

Evening meals wer taken at The Coach and Horses pub, just a 2 minute walk up the road. The food is excellent and the service good. The Menu is very reasonable and they have a nice selection of inexpensive wine.

A place that is a MUST visit is the Falconry Centre at Batsford Park, only about ten minutes away. Burton on the Water is also well worth a visit as is Broadway and of coures Lower Slaughter.

In all we had a wonderful stay, we felt most welcome and Nick and Teresa couldn't do enough for us. We will most definitely return, in the near future.

We stayed for two nights in July 2011, so my review is a bit late! We were lucky enough to stay in an room with an ensuite, and the bath was very much appreciated.

The B&B grounds are just gorgeous, we enjoyed wandering around the arboretum in the afternoon before heading out dinner and it was warm enough one evening to swim in the outdoor pool.

Windy Ridge is in a great location, a short drive to all the Cotswold villages, but far enough away to escape the crowds and feel like you're in the middle of nowhere.

Nick recommended two restaurants for our two nights, The Horse and Groom and The Fox Inn, both of which were fantastic and are definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

First of all, we are greatly appreciative to Nick for his willingness to take us for only one night (on a Friday) when our nearby B&B couldn't accommodate us for all three nights. Windy Ridge is stunningly beautiful, conveniently located, and oozes charm. That being said, it pains me to report that our ensuite room (DeWeerdt) was small and a bit on the tired side...nothing like the rest of the estate. We had difficulty maneuvering around the room with our suitcases, and the room itself was in need of refreshing, as was the bathroom. It probably wouldn't have taken us back so much if the rest of the property didn't set the bar so high. Breakfast was substantial and excellent, and the dining room was conducive to meeting the other guests, which we really enjoyed. On a down note, the server was far from friendly when we discovered that we had placed our breakfast order on the table upstairs instead of downstairs. Nick recommended the Horse and Groom restaurant to us, which provided one of the best meals of our entire trip. All in all, our visit was very good but I cannot give it a five-star review.

Though I thank the writer for taking the trouble to post a review it just goes to show how damaging, like this one, some can be when the writer so obviously knows very little about what he is referring to.
Also as pointed out by the writer this one Friday night booking during the high season was taken as a favour and so to read this hurts even more.
Our room DeWeerdt measures 12ft by 18ft excluding the fitted wardrobes – SMALL...??!!
The room was redecorated nine months previously with a specialist paint finish to give a traditional classic effect - TIRED...??!!
I note there is no mention of the three £x,000.00 oil paintings on the walls and so assume these were not seen...??!!
Shortly following the writers visit we had an unannounced inspection from the tourist board and though still to be confirmed we have been recommended to have our rating upgraded from five stars silver to five stars GOLD.
Sorry but I cannot grade this writer as a five star reviewer either...!!

Windy Ridge in Longborough is a fantastic B&B. The perfect base for exploring the Cotswold in England. Lush beautiful grounds manicured shrubs, hedges, statues, etc. Beautiful home steeped in charm and atmosphere. Excellent breakfasts. Very good comraderie with the other guests...very relaxed elegance. Nick is a very intelligent, interesting man and a wonderful host. We only booked for 3 nights but decided we should stay another night because we loved it so much. Thanks for the memories, Nick and Taxi (the Boxer).

this manor house was built in the early 1950s to look like an old house from 100 years earlier, so it combines old charm with modern conveniences. the proprietor, nick, takes a personal interest in your itineraries and dining experiences, with great tips, and the location is near stow-on-the-wold and burton-on-the-water, two delightful little villages that fill up with tourists during the day but turn back to their charming selves around dusk. go early or late and enjoy them without the bustling crowds. windy ridge is quiet, set off the road by several hundred yards, and a perfect place to unwind after a day of touring the Cotswolds. up the hill is a very pleasant pub with outstanding fish and chips, as well as a very amiable landlord, jon. highly recommend it.

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking the garden in the back. and try to get one that is en suite, although the...

During my planned visit to the the Cotswolds, I made arrangements to stay at Windy Ridge, in Longborough. Windy Ridge is just a beautiful English Estate and in a superb location. It is located just half mile from the traditional Village of Longborough, tucked under the Ganborough Hill. This manor, is only 3.5 miles from Moreton in Marsh, 3 miles form Stow on the Wold and 7 miles form Broadway; and outstanding location for those that which to visit these beautiful Villages.

The Interior of this B&B is just very tastily decorated, it makes you feel as if you have traveled back in time and have landed in the Victorian era. I felt as if I had stepped in a movie set or better yet walked into a painting. Nick and Jennifer are superb hosts and Teresa is the most wonderful housekeeper you can have around; her breakfast are so very well planned and served, and she is extremely accommodating, she makes you feel like you are an old friend not a guest, just be ready for those well served English breakfasts! The rooms and bathrooms are very clean and ventilated. The gardens are outstanding and manicured. I found myself surrounded but beautiful appointed gardens and statues. It is in deed a very calming, soothing and romantic place.

Just accrossed the private Road adjacent to A424, is the Coach and Horses Pub. It is just a 4 minute walk from Windy Ridge; I had choices of going to other places, but because it was so convenient, I had dinner there almost every night, the was excellent. It was worth every pound. There also an Arboretum with beautiful matured trees just next to the property planted many years ago by Nick's father, it is like walking through your own private park, just gorgeous. I can't live out Taxi, the most loving boxer you could ever meet, she is absolutely a sweetheart, love people and children. I can only give my best reviews to this magical place and I know that I will be back again. I had a memorable time in this place with these wonderful hosts!!

Room Tip: All rooms have beautiful views.
