Duration of Stay – 3rd & 4th Sep 2016

Location – 10 KM from Kalpetta bus stop and 15 KM from Banasura Sagar Dam, this resort is located adjacent to a plantation surrounded by greeneries and in close proximity of river Kabini. The locality is residential, where one would come across more local villagers compared to tourists.

Ambience – It’s a small resort consisting of 5 tent rooms, a reception/restaurant area and a lot of trees. Despite the limitation of space, rooms are arranged well, giving sufficient privacy for each guest. Each tent is nestled amongst greeneries, which on the positive side gives you a feel of jungle and on negative side doesn’t allow a clear view of plantation opposite to the resort. As you first time walk into this resort, you will get a distinct feeling of being inside a forest and the same would only enhance further when you wake up to the sound of birds chirping.

Rooms – Rooms are basically Swiss tents with attached modern toilet and a sitting area. Rooms are average containing a bed, TV, AC and a few tables.

Food – food had been a bit of a disappointment for us since we were expecting authentic Kerala food and they had a strict north Indian food. But the food quality was as per expectation.

Rightfully so as the name suggests, if you are looking for an experience to literally take you to the GrassRoots, this is the place. A small 5 tent cottage resort deep in the interiors of north Kerala in the western ghats in Wayanad. 145 kms from Mysore and 90 kms from Calicut airport. The only place in South India to provide a luxurious tent. The tents are so well designed, maintained and furnished with all the luxuries you can think of and very very spacious. Even the bathroom within the tent is so much more spacious than most rooms of any other resort. The best part of the our stay here though was the staff and the hospitality we received. Prajwal the manager in-charge was an excellent host, very patient and ready to help us with very balanced recommendations on what we should do and not to enjoy Wayanad in the true sense. Since it's only 5 tents that they have you kind of get a personalised attention for all of your needs, right from the savoury food, to helping you out with planning the activities that you can do locally to giving you a nice walking tour within the area estate right adjacent to the resort.

We visited Grassroots in the first week of August 2016 and booked two tents (1and 2). Location,Tents, Hospitality and the food was very good. On the down side, lamp on the veranda was not working, Hot water was not coming in Tent 1 and the food are bit expensive.Visit this place if you want luxurious tent experience and to be in the middle of nature.
