we visited this place just before onset of monsoon in 2016, nice and convenient place to stay, hygienic food, courteous staff and good facilities. this place is not in the heart of the city so if u want to be secluded from the chaos of commercial places then its a good choice, near by river, tea plantation add to the scenic beauty.

We wanted a place for kids, when we called we asked and told the lady on the phone and we're told " get your own games" so we did. When we reach there first we see a terrible approach to park our car and hardly any space plus none to help.
We can understand as the Parkway is steep and space is less but still they do expect people to come in their cars!
When we saw there is just no place to play, it's tent houses and ideal for those who want to do nothing there except sleep!
The place is neglected to say the least..outside the dining area plants are dead, hammock unusable, mesh in the Windows torn, dining table had lizard droppings...enough for us to forget about the second day!
The manager was doing his best but lack of staff meant food comes late, though was good.
They also own red earth, and in the bathroom we see evidence of that as red earth labeled shampoo- C'mon folks have some pride in what you own here too!
Plenty of pictures and examples of shabby upkeep and neglect seen are there with us, which we wanted to show the owner if he cared.( Still got them but don't know how to upload from my phone to the review)
What goes worse for us is that when we request the customer care on call to give us some refund as we feel cheated, we are given a lecture on how the place is "rustic" and we were told get our games! The lady refused to tell us where can we play them! ( She maybe meant get indoor board games and we were to understand that!)
Very rude and unfriendly conversations followed and she did not want to offer any help , we left the place to avoid spoiling our vacation and gave up the money paid for the second day. The manager was sorry, nice and apologizing but helpless.
The owners lack of care was proven when he did come to the property but did not bother to meet us even though we had asked the customer care folks to inform him of our case. They were initially claiming he is travelling, maybe to avoid us confronting him, later we were told he had come and left without meeting us ( by the resort guys who did not know we had been told about his fake travel by the customer care lady).
Writing this review a few months later, should have done that earlier but did not want to miss it as anyone else contemplating staying here do please know what you are getting into
If you like a shabby kept place..living in tents and just a place to rest with nothing else go ahead. If you are with a family, best avoided to say the least.

We will remember this stop over of two days for its intimate ambient setting and wonderful hospitality. Our time here was filled with exciting activity. A walk through a tea plantation led us to a river where we had our first bamboo raft experience. The next morning we hiked up to ancient caves, followed by a delicious lunch. In the afternoon we hiked to the waterfall and the dam nearby. Our tent accommodation was very comfortable and clean. We ate all our meals here and the food was very good. The staff here were outstanding and so pleasant to be around. If you stay here do go on a tour of the bamboo village with a guide called Vinay. We left Grassroots with happy memories.

My husband and me went there with high expectations from our previous experience with the same owners at red earth, kabini it started of disastrously when we were asked to run to the reception in heavy rain coz they dint have umbrellas. Bad service our rooms were not cleaned once during our whole 3 day stay. Food was average . They have a terrible shortage of staff ... compared to how wonderful red earth was ... this was the exact opposite
