“A fantastic New Abbey treasure!”

This is a fantastic cottage in the heart of the lovely village of New Abbey. The owner has done a great job of modernising this former croft with style without lossing the feeling of the building. The cottage is cosy (It has central heating and an open fire) and very comfortable with soft, fluffy towels in the wet room and crisp white linen in the bedrooms.

The whole cottage was extremely clean on arrival and the kitchen area has been very well planned with all the appliances one would expect in a holiday rent. There were even sharp knives in the drawer - one of my pet hates in holiday cottages when all the knives are plunt!

There's plenty of space for little ones to run round in the garden to the side of the house - plus a barbecue complete with table and chairs. The owner has thought of everything.

The village of New Abbey has plenty of things to see. There's a wonderful abbey at the end of the village which changes colour with the sun. Across the road from there is a wonderful award winning tea room. My husband's favourite is haggis panini! There's a well stocked shop directly across the road from the cottage, two pubs and a corn mill within 100 yards of the village square.

We were there for Easter and my husband took his bicycle - which was safely locked in one of the small 'outhouses' to the side of the cottage.

For walkers you can climb the hill to the Waterloo monument or follow some of the local walks - details of which have been left in the cottage by the owner. There are also maps there if you want to walk further afield.

All together we had a fantastic four night stay and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will most certainly be back.

“What a lovely little cottage!”

When we pulled into the square at New Abbey and saw the cottage, it just looked lovely. We went in and it was lovely and warm which was a good start. All of the rooms are very well appointed and very, very cosy.

The living room has a lovely open fire and very comfortable sofas and the adjoining kitchen is very clean and has everything that you would need for a cottage holiday. The additional touches of flowers and candles make it even better.

The wet room is fantastic! I couldn't get my 14 year old daughter out of the shower! Both bedrooms are very comfortable. The bunk room is small but there is enough room for a wardrobe and, I have to say, my daughter and I didn't struggle in this room at all.

The location of the cottage is great as the village of New Abbey is lovely. The people in the local shop were really helpful, as were the owners of the cottage.

Oh, and there is a lovely garden at the rear which is very sheltered.

We would definitely come back to this cottage.

“Cosy, beautiful & well located!”

My friend and our partners were in town for a Valentines/sightseeing trip and We wanted something out of the main towns. We decided on new abbey partly for the great price and that it was close to a few places we wanted to visit!

The cottage is lovely, clean and modern with some cosy features! We LOVED the fire especially! There's a shop nearby that we got our breakfast supplies from the next morning and there was a really great selection for a small shop! Our partners ventured out for a walk while we went to the abbey in the town! Its got a great history for a small place and we feel like the town is like a picture book (we took so many photos of the views alone)! Beautiful fields and the tea room served delicious food!

We braved the weather and took the car out to the beach for our valentines BBQ and although the weather wasn't all that great we would love to go back in summer to get the full benefits! Lots of birdlife around Southerness and the beach was clean and free of litter!

Local pubs are quiet but have a nice atmosphere and Its a quick drive to Dumfries and Castle Douglas! We went into both towns during our week here and we felt so relaxed during our stay - the townspeople are very friendly too! We'll definitely be back soon!
