This is a really lovely hotel. We stayed just one night. All aspects were spot on; room, food, service. Special mention to the young woman who showed us to our room and served us in the restaurant she was just lovely, even when I messed up the food order she sorted it out and was so charming. She made it a stand out hotel for us. She made us and our dog very welcome. Look forward to going back.

Stayed for one night ! Friendly and attentive staff, well appointed bedroom and bathroom with Molton Brown toiletries. Breakfast delicious and freshly cooked for you ! Dinner was excellent too although very slow! Would highly recommend!

Room tip: Rooom on the first floor! Have had a room at the top before and it was very warm and airless!

From the outside this hotel looks uninspiring but what a wonderful surprise awaits you when you go through the doors. The staff are friendly and professional. Our room was on the top floor but was quite amazing! Massive double bed, lots of room, a tray laid with teas, coffees and biscuits. Two bottles of water and a luxurious bathroom with an overhead rain shower, bath and fluffy white towels and bathrobes. The breakfast was a good Scottish breakfast including haggis if you want it or scrambled egg with smoked salmon. We ate twice in the restaurant and I have to say that the fillet steak I had on the first night was the best I have ever had - it was tender and succulent- perfectly cooked. On the second night I had the sea bass which was also cooked to perfection.
This hotel is perfectly placed for exploring the lowlands and is a hidden gem in a quiet Scottish town!

We stayed for one night on our way up on a trip to Scotland. This small Hotel is in a prominent position in the centre of the pleasant town of Thornhill. Probably a past coaching inn, plenty of parking is available on the street immediately outside the hotel. Clean and welcoming the public areas have an airy and bistro like feel. The bedroom was reasonably large and well furnished. The Linen was good and the Bed was large and comfortable. The en suite bathroom was reasonably spacious and all the fixtures and fittings worked well and the whole room was scrupulously clean. Some reviewers have complained about noise but we did not experience any and had a very good nights sleep.
We have a small dog and we ate in the Bar area in the evening. The cooking and presentation was truly excellent and I can truthfully say that I had the best steak I have ever had that night. Looked good, and it tasted absolutely superb, cooked properly rare to my liking - fantastic ! The Breakfast was equally a gastronomic delight, particularly wonderful Haggis and Black Pudding were significant highlights !
The Staff were particularly cheerful, attentive and efficient. This was an altogether excellent experience and look forward to staying there again in the future. Well done. keep it up...!! - and do not change a thing.
