Caught in a snowstorm on a bitterly cold night en-route from the DC area to Ottawa, we got off the highway and looked for the closest place we could find.
The large room was 54F when we checked in, and after one hour of "full" heat it reached 58F, both readings courtesy of the staff member's digital thermometer. I was assured that the heater was operating at maximum capacity, and was even shown another room where the heater was running at a similar temperature. The heaters seem to be deliberately limited, as the thermostat setting had no effect on the heat produced. We slept in pyjamas and fleeces, wearing socks and slippers, under the extra blankets that the staff member brought for us.
I hate to write such a negative review, but it was quite an unpleasant experience. The management really need to reconsider their heating policy, or whether to stay open in the winter.
It goes without saying that I will never stay at the Red Carpet Inn again.More
