“Best In Maitland”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 May 2012

The motel complex backs onto a Hotel/Bistro but is far enough away to ensure separation for both sets of patrons. In between is a conference / function building which doubles as the breakfast room in the mornings. The Motel is still relatively new and the furnishings and decor still fresh. Regardless of how old or dowdy I find a Motel I demand cleanliness above all else, I would give a very good, 8/10 for this Motel. I found the reception to be friendly and efficient with a minimum of fuss or delay for both check in and out.

The motel itself is sufficiently off the New England Highway so that traffic noise never became an issue but you should be aware that you will be surrounded by a semi industrial and business district with BP/McDonalds/Oporto/BSW all just across the road from the Motel entrance and the area can become busy almost to the point of congestion of an evening, especially on weekends. I found the normal tarrif to be at the upper end of the range for this type of Motel but still within my affordable limit.

In a nutshell the title says it all, you will not find a better Motel in Maitland, I should know, I looked. There are more up-market digs further into the vineyard zone further west of Maitland towards Branxton, Pokolbin & Cessnock but you will pay tourist prices (read stupid prices) for the conveniance of saving yourself a 20 minute drive.

Hope this helps - Happy Travels

The room was more than adequate [we paid $180 for an 'Executive' King room] with a spacious room, minimal tea & coffee making supplies & mini-bar.
We also had a faulty Air Con remote control and agreed to have it looked at by reception "after I've finished checking in a guest" .... evidently, this was forgotten as no-one appeared.
Meal options were limited to a Bistro "across the carpark" some fast food outlets nearby and a "good Thai restaurant".

BOOKING: this was, well, strange. I rang to make a booking & the booking agent sounded like I was disrupting her day! She asked what type of room I wanted & when I asked what are my choices she sighed & said (in a voice that sounded like she was speaking to a child) "single, twin, queen, king"...I booked a king room & gave my visa card details & went on my merry way.

CHECK-IN: I forgot to bring my visa card with me but wasn't worried because they already had the details...unfortunately they also need to sight the card...not sure why...just company policy. This wasn't the worst part, the worst part was that we had NOT been allocated a KING room as booked but a queen room. I was told that it's the same price & not a downgrade, just a downsize.

THE ROOM: clean, basic, uncomfortable bed, ineffective A/C unit, no room service, mini bar prices pretty reasonable though.

THE BREAKFAST: $19.00pp buffet. The eggs were like rubber, the hash browns were soggy & swimming in oil, the bacon was also dripping oil, the sausage was tasty, the water tasted like pineapple juice, the coffee was luke warm, the bread was very nice...all in all I was pretty disappointed with the breakfast & I was left wishing I had spent $5 on a McMuffin from the Maccas across the road!

LOCATION: convenient. There's a pub on site, Maccas across the road, a 15 minute walk to a woolies, Coles, Aldi, pizza hut, Chinese, subway, etc. also right on the New England Highway & very close to a major industrial estate so it was a little noisy at what I think may have been shift change time in the morning but our room was pretty good noise wise during the night.

OVERALL: it's doubtful I would stay again after all the little problems & it's most certainly NOT worth the $160 a night we paid!
