“Very interesting”
Review of St Mary the Virgin

St Mary the Virgin
Reviewed November 16, 2017

This church is very beautiful & has the added peculiarity of the bell tower being outside of the church itself. The church also has an ongoing exhibition of tapestries all sewn by the ladies. They were inspired by a visit by them to the Fishguard, Ceredigion tapestry. Well done all.

The church has an unusually shaped bell tower. The church was open and had local items for sale on an honour system which was lovely to see.

After an early start at the red lion watching the Lions in NZ I decided to show my cousins around the village. Went into the bell tower and couldn't believe it. Never seen anything like it. Three biers, beams everywhere and a very big clock. The church itself was also very interesting. Next stop Dunkerton's cider...

Well worth a visit. Lovely old church with lots to see within, a number of interesting features and very charming grounds.

Has the added bonus of having various local leaflets inside should you want to know more about the area or be stuck for inspiration.

Big church for such a small village, lots to see inside from Jacobean pulpits to Victorian stained glass.
An unusual and beautiful 13th century bell tower separate from the main building.
Go behind the church and see the remains of a medieval moat.
Well worth a visit.
