Booked Yagiz to celebrate our wedding anniversary - we were not disappointed!

The fitout is great, beautiful mood lighting which created wonderfull patterns through your wine glass. Lovely “rough” finish on walls, little nooks for candles and NO loud background music, in fact no music at all just the hum of contented diners.

Our waiter explained that she had only been in Australia for 3 months. She was great, very helpful but not intrusive and her knowledge of Turkish food and wines made for a memorable evening.

We opted for the tasting menu and dined remarkably well.
Our favourite was calamari stuffed with cheese and farro but really every dish surpassed expectations. Lovely smokey flavours, grill marks, some heat but, above all, exquisite flavours and textures.

5 savoury dishes and finished off with gorgeous baklava with praline icecream.

Oh, and the house baked sourdough is delicious - and plentiful!

We Opted for matched wines as we were keen to sample a very inventive wine list which included Turkish wines. Glad we did, all good and the Turkish wines, one rose and two reds, were excellent.

Loved our celebration, everything was wonderful and at a very reasonable price.

Thanks so much Yagiz, we will be back to try some more dishes.

On a local flight to Dubbo I was reading the plane magazine and I found this restaurant so we visited this establishment. The setting is romantic with low lighting and the staff were very attentive and very helpful, especially Billie. Wow Wow Wow the food was fantastic and as we were not really familiar with the Turkish cuisine Billie gave us good advice on what to choose for our dinner. She gave us several suggestions and we were not disappointed. The food was tasty and amazing. All in all we had a fabulous night and it was one of the highlights of our weekend in Melbourne.

Group of 12 had a fab night in the private room. Set menu was generally good, although probably having ox tongue on the menu as a starter not a great idea, as many did not wish to eat it - I tried it for the first time in my life - it was actually delicious, but best not to have something polarising on a set menu! The rest of the meal was delicious - if anything there was way too much food. we could have fed the entire restaurant with our left overs! Sadly, dessert was truly awful. We were served poached quince with vanilla bean icecream, which should have been delicious. Well, the icecream was delicious, the quince was sold as a rock and completely inedible - literally could not even get a spoon through it, let along a knife! Disappointing, as I actually really like quince..... the service was generally excellent. Our only complaint was that towards the end of the evening we were asked if we wished to order more wine, as the bar was closing shortly. They failed to advise us that we still had a few bottles which were quite full (they were serving the wine). So at the end of the night we had 6 bottles of opened, barely touched wine. Annoying and expensive mistake. Was this a purposeful error? or a silly waiter not concentrating? Who knows, but it did leave a slight sour note on an otherwise generally lovely experience.

We visited Yagiz for the first time with 3 other couples last night . The food, service and ambience is to die for. You must also meet the owner Murat who is such a humble young man. We all would highly recommend it. The entrees, main meals and baklava all were AAA.

My husband and I visited Yagiz on the spur of the moment after our hair stylist told us her clients were giving rave reviews. We have to agree. The food was not only unique it was lovely to eat and beautifully presented. We loved the octopus, chicken breast and pilaf and simply stunning baklava dessert. We drank very smooth and gorgeous Turkish wines which were so reasonably priced. We will be back to try more.
