great rooms, nice restaurant (too spicy for my taste, but great included breakfasts),and a good selection of activities with knowledgeable hotel guide (note that prices are plus 13% vat which can add a lot if you spend as much as we did).jeep safaris are good for seeing a wide variety of wildlife (though this can/did vary each day),as was full day canoe trip.elephant safari good for getting really close to wildlife (but not for comfort!),elephant washing and feeding great for children.canoe to elephant centre had little wildlife but enjoyable.ox cart ride to visit village was ok but would have liked more time to explore village.village is only 5-10 mins walk for good souvenir shops/alternative restaurants.this place also helps local community (not foreign owners like many others),so would highly reccomend.

Our family of 4 adults loved staying at Sapana. We found the property to be spacious, beautiful and natural with the landscape next to a river and village near by. The staff were helpful and looked after any need. The rooms were perfect and nicely decorated with mural paintings on the walls and porches for relaxing. Main restaurant served delicous meals with a lovely ambiance of candles lit each night. We took trips daily into Chitwan with the guides from Sapana and found them to be so informative and friendly. Overall a wonderful stay at a property that has its broader focus in community building & who wouldnt want to support that!!

Room Tip: We enjoyed an upstairs room where from the porch you could even view a neighbouring elephant!

Two nights here was awesome.
Room and balcony beautifully decorated. The place is split into different buildings next to a river and it's got a great feel. Elephants sleep next door too!
Food was brilliant, safari guides spoke perfect English and everyone was friendly.

It is all supporting the local tharu people and it is a great way of helping and experiencing the place at the same time!

We spent 2 nights at this hotel. Although it was a bit difficult communicating through e-mails, once there, the staff was extremely helpful. The lodge itself and the rooms were tastefully decorated. Nothing too fancy, but we could see that they had paid attention to details (i.e. cute drawings in the rooms). The rooms were very clean. It was also very nice that we had electricity most of the time. Compared to other hotels in Nepal, here the standard is very good for the price we are paying. The safaris etc. were very efficiently organized. Naran made personal contacts with each guest, and made sure everything was alright.

I visited Sapana Village Lodge with friends for a long weekend. We wanted a quiet, secluded spot to relax and enjoy Chitwan. Sapana's staff was courteous, efficient, and ready to help. The rooms are clean, fresh, and well-decorated. The food and drinks at the restaurant are worth staying in for.

In addition to being a well-run operation, Sapana's business model benefits the local community through microfinance initiatives, skill development programs, and funding for health and education projects.

Sit back in a riverside hammock, drink a cocktail, bathe an elephant, and do a bit of good.

Well done, Sapana. We'll be back.

Close to the jungle s door, this hotel is fantastic and helping a lot to the local community. Staff is very attentive and making sure you will have a great time.
Rooms are nice, hot water available and most of the time Electricity.
Food is good Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner!!!
Suggestions for Activities are great.
Manager is very nice. There is a very young waiter (don t remember his name) doing a fantastic job, very friendly and looking for preferences you have to then satisfy you... That s luxury.

We had a wonderful stay in Sapana Village Lodge, where we spent three nights. Just outside the touristy town of Sauraha, yet close to more traditional Tharu villages, beside a beautiful river with crystal clear water and scenic sunrises, it is quite certainly the best located lodge in the area - at least among those which are outside of the park.

Sapana Village Lodge offers activity packages of several days, or if you prefer you can just book your overnight stays and then pick the activities you are interested in - if any. We had a very good guide who took us for a combined canoe ride and jungle walk, as well as for a half-day bike excursion to the 20 000 Lakes park. We also booked our bus tickets to the Indian border at the hotel, and paid less than the price we were told at some agencies in Sauraha.

Sapana Village Lodge has very beautiful rooms and plenty of hot water, and there is WiFi, although only in the reception area (and you have to sit on a bench outside). The restaurant offers excellent food with a great landscape view, however prices are substantially higher than in some of the lower key restaurants you can find in Sauraha (15 minutes walk) or some of the nearby Tharu villages.

While we were overall very satisfied with the cleanliness, usually house-keeping wouldn't do our rooms until the late afternoon, and only when we asked them to do it. Given the price range of the hotel we would have expected better house-keeping services and thus see some room for improvement in this area.
