Pretty village in a quiet location. Frances is a wonderful hostess, very welcoming serving tea and coffee on arrival. Comfortable beds in big rooms and a well presented delicious breakfast.

My wife and I recently spent two nights at this excellent B & B.

While we were staying there, the following question occurred to me:

"What is the difference between a "Good B & B" and a "Great B & B"?

The best way to find the answer to this question is to stay at a few B & B's and then to stay at "The Old Bakehouse".

I don't mean to convey that the other B & B's that I have stayed out weren't very good. Instead, I want to convey that, by staying at The Old Bakehouse I experienced first-hand the difference between "Good" and ":Great".

Frances, the owner/operator impressed me for many reasons. For one, she is pursuing the goal of providing an excellent B & B experience. She achieved that goal for us!

The food, service and attention to detail is excellent.

The facilities, including a spacious and well-kitted-out lounge room and a very comfortable room, made us very positive.

You won't regret staying at The Old Bakehouse and being looked after by Frances and her staff.

Eight of us on a walking weekend have just spent 2 wonderful nights at The Old Bakehouse at Colyton and we couldn't have picked better. Frances, the owner, was most welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Our rooms were top notch - delightful, comfortable and cosy. I am a Coeliac and usually have to take my own bread etc wherever I go but Frances was really switched on with my diet and I was really spoilt. We dined at The Cobblers one night and the food was excellant. They also provided wheat and gluten free food so I was delighted. Larger establishments take note - if small establishments like this can provide wheat and gluten free food why can't you. It's not rocket science. Colyton is a very pretty town with some wonderful walks, a beautiful church and a tram that goes to Seaton. We have come home with wonderful memories of a fabulous weekend so can't wait to return.

Arriving at this lovely homely place, after a full day walking,on one of the wettest weekend for along time, was very welcome.
After a good night sleep and a splendid breakfast, all our very wet clothes had been dried overnight by the owner Francis.
My and my friends will return again.

My daughter and i stayed for one night at The Old Bakehouse last week. We both wish that we could have stayed for longer and we will certainly be back for a longer stay! From the moment we arrived, Frances, the owner, could not have made us more welcome. She made us feel very special and valued which was lovely. She brought us tea coffee and biscuits to our room which was most welcome. Our room was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The Old Bakehouse oozes character and there is a great guestlounge and breakfast room. Breakfast was exemplary. The food on offer was of excellent quality and came beautifully presented. I cannot recommend The Old Bakehouse highly enough. Thank you Frances.

We arrived at this lovely B&B and were instantly made to feel at home by the owner Frances. We had tea and coffee in the amazing guest lounge. A lovely place full of character, room was very spacious and comfortable as was the ensuite and extremely clean. Little touches such as a fridge with milk in and proper coffee and good selection of teas and biscuits on the tray in the room. Lovely large and soft towels. Breakfast was prepared fresh and extremely good. Sad we only stayed one night but will go back and stay here again and explore the area.
