Two years since we stayed in the Mill. The setting is stunning and Andy & Georgina made sure our stay was perfect from the moment we arrived. I tried some fly fishing on the lake which I found wonderfully relaxing and the surroundings were so tranquill. The mill was well furnished and was a "home from home". We had a delightful meal which was prepared by Andy on our wedding anniversary. We do hope to go back some day!

Having spent an enjoyable seven hours meandering across France on the more minor railway lines, we arrived on time at Meymac station, where we were met by Georgina and Andy (the owners of Moulin des Farges).

The guesthouse is a beautifully restored and converted building, standing in its own valley. We were delighted with our room, and with the enormous bathroom, and also with the gardens which include two small lakes connected by a rushing stream. It was wonderful to chill out by the swimming pool, watching the nearby black redstarts feeding their young.

The French-style breakfast al fresco was a pleasure, but the highlight for us was the sumptuous dinner (notably the duck breasts in a sauce subtly blending chilli with a hint of chocolate) which we enjoyed on the veranda while the sun gradually sank behind the hills 'up-valley'.

Standing in the grounds is a cottage - which I assume is self-catering. This place has its own tranquillity, and would be a perfect base for walkers, artists or those who simply wish to chill out.

Room Tip: We enjoyed our room on the second floor, with windows facing south and west

This stunning place is hidden away in a private valley and a real find. Pictures just don’t do it justice! We were made very welcome by Andy and Georgina, and had a very pleasant and peaceful night’s stay. The rooms were well equipped and beautifully decorated. We would definitely stay there again!

Anyone looking for a mental detox in idyllic surroundings should look no further. Beautiful environment, well appointed gite & B & B rooms, and excellent, attentive and helpful owners.
At times, it felt almost the holiday cliche of sitting by the lake, watching the sun going down drinking a lovely red wine, but that's the reality.

You have the choice of comfortabvly spending time on the site, but there's so many places to visit locally that you have to make the most of it.

One friendly bit of advice -- the property is generally described as 'Meymac' but it's a couple of miles outside, along a fairly twisty country road. Those looking for a stroll into the local village to stock up on cheese, bread and wine, might need to think again. Not the owners' fault of course, in my opinion it is all the better for it's country location.

Staying at the Moulin Des Farges was hands down the best part of our trip to Europe :-) My husband and I took our first trip to Europe this May and stayed in England, France and Italy. I have to say that staying here was so relaxing! Andy and Georgina took such good care of us and even picked us up and dropped us off at the train station.
The chateau is beautiful with amazing grounds to go walking. My husband and I took advantage of the row boat out on the lake and also did a lot of walking around the area. We stayed in the Rose room for two nights (the bathtub is wonderful!) and had a very comfortable bed. I highly recommend having Andy cook you dinner for at least one night. He really is an excellent chef and also Georgina makes some yummy pastries and desserts!
We enjoyed tea time in the afternoon with their very happy and well behaved dog, Phoebe :-) The weather was gorgeous when we were there though it was still a little too chilly to take advantage of their pool. We had fun exploring Meymac and took a walk leading us to a very large a pretty lake. Honestly, this place is just romantic and my husband and I will definitely be here next time we're in France! Again, Andy and Georgina took such good care of us, I couldn't have asked for better hosts on our trip.
If you're looking for a romantic and relaxing getaway in France, this is where you need to be!

Room Tip: We stayed in the La rose room because it looked so cute on their website! The bed was comfy and the bathtub was huge :)
