I admit a friend of ours gave us this stay. So I was surprised when we started climbing the hills. After a scenic drive we arrived at Borgo Mocale. Our room was more like an apartment in this ancient place from the 1300s. You ascend several flights of stairs to get there. The borgo was having a piano concert that night which my husband attended. It was very good in the intimate setting and are every Thursday. The best part of the stay was the food. Breakfast was included in the morning and you confirmed your reservation for a 4 course dinner. The food was what Americans would call “Farm to table” with fresh ingredients grown at the borgo. The cheese was made from goats milk produced on the farm.
Meals on the patio always had something to look at such as the sheep climbing the terraced hills. It is definitely family oriented.
There is a pool sauna and Turkish bath. I will definitely stay again to decompress from my travels.More
