This was our second trip to Kamala beach, so my husband and I checked the Trip Advisor reviews before booking this hotel, and we were not disappointed at all. We previously stayed at another, more expensive, hotel on our honeymoon (first visit to Kamala), and it was not near as nice as this one. We loved Kamala Beach Resort by far!

We stayed 12 nights and enjoyed every minute - from the 27 January to 8 February 2012. The hotel was fully booked, but the service levels were excellent. We didn't know this upon booking, that the hotel has a 'no children' policy. Great for families without kids who want to enjoy the day at the pool without screaming and noise. When we do have children, we will stay at the child-friendly hotel next door, also owned by Sunprime.

Overall I could not fault this hotel. The staff were friendly and hard-working. The relaxed atmosphere was just what we wanted, and the location is prime! The beach is on the door step, and Kamala main road is right there. The town has a few nice restaurants, we loved the little Indian restaurant on the beach. The hotel has a shuttle into Patong, but we really didn't feel the need to go there.

There were 4 pools to choose from, and we tried 3 of them. Two have a swim-up bar, great for an afternoon coffee in the water or a cocktail or two. There are loads of sun loungers, but if you want to be in a specific spot then I suggest you get there early. The hotel doesn't allow guests to reserve loungers before 9.30am, which is good and ensures everyone gets a spot. The pool next to the beach seemed to be the most popular, and we got there 3 times. But the third time we actually decided that the loungers were not the most comfortable, and spent the rest of our holiday at the other pool with swim-up bar. For someone fussy like me, I was super impressed that I could get a fresh beach towel (provided by the hotel) anytime I wanted by simply handing in the old one. The swimming pools were ultra clean, and didn't smell of chlorine. The atmosphere was great and we spent most of our days relaxing at the pool, reading books and listening to music. The barman played music from the bar, but someone needs to ask him not to play the "best of Christmas" CD in February :-) The weather was quite windy on some days, so make sure your umbrella is secured!
The hotel 'supermarket' has lots of snacks if you need anything during the day, and they even stay open late at night. We mostly bought bottled water there. But they have earplugs and mosquito repellent too (we needed both!).

The breakfast, which was included in our rate, was superb. They catered for everyone's needs, including having gluten-free bread and soya milk (we loved this as we don't do much diary). The spread was fantastic, from breads, fruits, cereals, hot meals, pancakes, eggs and more.
We ate at the hotel restaurant a few times and enjoyed it. They have a different buffet theme every night (from around the world) and the food was great, service great, and good value for money. Plus they had a band playing nice background music. Some days we played table tennis, and the bats and balls are freely available.
The hotel lobby has free wi-fi for your own device, mobile/laptop, and the speeds were excellent. I even did a skype call to a friend.

Our room:
We chose a 'Mountain view Room" thinking it would be quieter, however, this was not the case. The poolside rooms looked just as quiet, or even quieter. Since the hotel had no children, the pool was never noisy. Our room actually faced the busy road, not so much the mountain. Only a portion was mountain facing. Plus we had a view of all the electricity wires. It was far too hot to sit on the balcony anyway, so we didn't mind the view so much. The room was quite noisy. I slept with earplugs in every night, as I could here toilets flushing, doors banging and other guests stomping around above us and along passages. If you can put up with this and be prepared, everything else about the room was perfect. The tv had interesting channels, although we didn't watch any. The room was cleaned daily and fresh towels were provided if you wanted them. The bed was so comfortable and huge. The mini bar was a good size to fit in all the bottles of water we purchased from the hotel store. The room was spacious and the aircon was great.

Thai massages were offered at the hotel right next to the pool in the garden. It was so tranquil. The prices were good and the ladies very friendly. It was clean too. I would avoid them at really busy times though if you don't want to feel like you're just another guest on a conveyor belt of guests getting a massage. One of the older massage ladies was not good at her job at all, and I probably should have reported her to the hotel, but I just didn't have the heart. There are also massages offered on the beach at the same price, but not as clean.

The hotel has its own tailor. For those who don't know, tailor-made suits/shirts etc. are very popular in Thailand. Be prepared to be 'accosted' by every tailor in the main road until you tell them you've already had something made. My husband decided to support the tailor in the hotel who was very helpful and friendly - and not pushy. He had some casual and work shirts made, as well as some trousers. Everything fits perfectly and the quality is excellent. I recommend these guys.

The weather this time of the year was super hot, averaging about 32/35 degrees everyday. We came from Germany, so were only too pleased to have this heat.

I highly recommend this hotel, and would definitely go back if the opportunity arises.

Room Tip: The Mountain View room actually faces the road and the mountain. So if you don't want to see the...

We stayed in this hotel one week in november 2011. We booked a last minute to this hotel & didn't regret this at all!
This hotel is a very large resort with 4 swimming pools. One pool has a bar in the pool. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is amazing: all the food you can imagine for breakfast is available. Also very nice fresh fruits. The hotel is next to the beach. We enjoyed spring rolls in the afternoon on the beach en ate in the evening in the hotel restaurant.
The only thing I didn't like where some other guests of the hotel who didn't treat the staff with respect. The staff is very friendly en try to do everything they can to please you.
The room was modern & very clean. The staff cleaned the room every day if you want to. There's a safe in the room which was very easy to use. I think that every room has a balcony.
We didn't hire a car or other vehicule, we took tuktuks to go anywhere we wanted. That works very well. we went snorkling & canoeing. Really beautiful!!
The environment of Kamala is quiet. You can go to Patong by tuktuk if you want to go out.
I recommend this hotel & this neighbourhood!

The Kamala Beach Resort is absolutely fabulous. My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week and could not have been happier with our experience. They gave us a free room upgrade and were very helpful when it came to giving us advice on places to visit, sights to see, etc. We were in a pool-view room that was very large and comfortable.
The only downsides we found were the ridiculously inflated prices of drinks as well as the poorly lit bathroom within our room.
Other than that, everything was perfect. The beach was never too crowded and there are many restaurants and vendors to check out. Also, the $10 USD massages at the resort are a must. I would recommend getting at least two while you're there!
Overall a very relaxing resort for adults traveling without children. I will be coming back very soon!

Room Tip: The Grand Deluxe Pool View room is great!

This hotel was great for our needs as we wanted a relaxing break without the usual screaming kids jumping in the pool. The rooms were nice and clean - we upgraded to deluxe pool view. The staff were quite surly and service in the bars and restaurants was extremely slow. Also they had some weird and annoying rules about where you could buy certain drinks, etc. Also, all the roof tiles were blowing off in extreme winds and I didn't feel at all safe walking around! It was ok for a short break but wouldn't rush back.

This was our first time to Thailand and me & wife had the best experience. We had booked the Grand Deluxe Pool View room, but on arrival we were upgraded to a Junior Suite, which was almost as big as our house. We had a view looking down to pools and a short walk to get down to the beach. The staff at the resort were very helpfull, we had pre-booked out airport transfer through the hotel and we had someone waiting for us on arrival at the airport.
We had lunch at the resort once we arrived, they have amazing food there, but there are pleanty of resturants & cafes on the beach with serve even better quality food and really cheap. For breakfast we went a couple of times to the Kamala Bakery on the Main St, about 10mins walk from the resort, best lemon crapes ever.
As for location Kamala is very quite, but is perfect if thats what you are after. There are plenty of bars & the beach is amazing. There are still plenty of tourist out & about/ Kamala markets are on friday nights, just a couple of minutes walk from the resort, try the popcorn.

We also watch the Fantasea show with is just up the road & worth going to.

We ventured to Patong with is only 30mins away, the resort has a afternoon shuttle bus that can get you there and back. We also checked out the markets in Phuket City, which are worth going to.

A bar worth checking out is located just outside the resort, it's just a little bamboo shack, cheap drinks. There you can get your laundry done for 50B/kg. and you can also hire a scooter for 300B/day.

Will definitely be back there next year.
