“prime kitchen restaurant - brilliant”

we didnt stay at kamala beach hotel but had dinner one night at their hotel restaurant prime kitchen. seriously one of the most well priced hotel restaurants i have come across - we sat near the beach side of the rest and watched the sun go down as we ate great food and had really good staff. very clean and the resort looked pretty good - toilets were amazingly clean for such a big hotel.

I stayed here for a week with my boyfriend and it was such a nice hotel. Right on the beach. The food in the restaurant was good, the rooms were nice and clean. There are no children allowed to stay at the resort so it was quite which was good!! Overall I would recommend this place!!

Room Tip: Maybe pick one facing the pool or the beach because the other rooms face the car park but if you are...

We stayed at Kamala Beach resort for one week. This is a lovely resort, I would rate it 4 star. The rooms were clean and a good size. The hotel buffet breakfast was good although not as extensive as other resorts I have stayed at in the past, never the less it had a good varity of foods.
This resort is ideal for couples, 70% of the guests were over 40 years of age. Guests from Europeans, Scandinavians, Russians and Australians.

No children under 15 hrs in this resort, made for peace and quiet at breakfast and around the pools.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Location is ideal away from the hustle and bustle of Patong, but a close taxi ride if you wanted to go shopping.
The beach is lovely, very clean, with a few shops along the walkway.
Plenty of places for a one hour back massage, and cheap us$10.
This hotel price for the week was very reasonable, I would certainly stay here again.

We didn't stay at this resort, so are only reviewing on the buffet restaurant really. Awful, noisy, crowded, hot, bland.
The 'entertainment' was entertaining, but for the wrong reasons.
Sorry, not our kind of thing at all.
Fino restuarant though - is fab! Can't find it on here to review separately. Delicious food, friendly and helpful staff. Worth going to.

We stayed here for 5 nights and loved every minute of it, we had no complaints at all, the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were spotless and spacious, we had bed and breakfast and we would highly recommend breakfast, staff were always very helpful, plenty to choose from, staff always topping your morning tea or coffee up as you empty it. The only thing which if I had to be picky was, I thought the evening meal in the hotel restaurants was a little expensive, for the price of one eating you could eat on the beach for two including drinks. There is plenty of places to eat on the beach if you walk left or right out of the hotel, all really good prices, we had a two course meal with drinks for two for just £12. This hotel was adults only and We had read on some reviews that it was mainly older people, but we found quiet the opposite there was a good mix of ages. This hotel is excellent for a relaxing holiday.

I asked via email for an upgrade as it was our 39th wedding anniversary. They replied courteously saying they didnt think it was possible as the hotel was heavily booked for Easter. However, when we arrived on 05/04/12 we had been upgraded and happy wedding anniversary was written in flower petals on our bed, also complimentary drink and fruit was in our room, which was on the 4th floor (but the top floor is in fact the 3rd floor as the hotel doesnt have a ground floor). Our room was spotless and the bed was huge. All staff were friendly, courteous and helpful, especially the info desk woman, who booked numerous local tours for us. We thought the food in the restaurants was a tad disappointing, but couldnt fault the service. However, one cautionary note. We were in the hotel on Wed 11/04/12. In the late afternoon we heard a PA system coming from the hills opposite, speaking in Thai - we thought it was either a political broadcast or an advertisement. After about 30 mins I heard a lot of noise in the corridor outside and opened the door to ask what was going on - to be told by another tourist that there was a tsunami warning and they had been told to get to the 4th floor (which was actually the 3rd floor by Western standards). The few staff on the floor were obviously panicked and very upset. All the tourists I saw were naturally scared, but not panicked, but the staff were in a bad way. Other than some directive to get up to our floor, there was no organisation, no staff member in control in any way. We opened the door to our room and invited anyone who wanted to in to watch TV - we could only find an Indonesian channel that was naturally concerned about the situation in Indonesia mainly - but at least we could read the captions in English that stated that the areas around the Andaman Sea should be evacuated. How? Nowhere to go and no way to get there - that 3rd floor was the highest point - and that wasnt very high. Lots of Russians in the hotel were completely isolated info-wise, and we all tried to convey anything we found out to them via arm waving, pictures, etc. I have no criticism to offer of the staff - at all other times they were wonderful, and I think that given the history, it was perfectly understandable that I didnt see a single staff member (and there werent many left, they mustve mainly departed on their motorbikes by the time I was aware, about 30 mins after the PA) who wasnt overwrought. But, having written a wonderful, well deserved review for this hotel, given the experience so many of the guests had on Wed 11th; through no fault of the hotel and not really its staff either (if I had had family members die in the same situation a few years earlier I wouldve been just as panicked), I think we will head for a place to stay that is a bit higher up, just in case. When the PA tsunami warning system announced the all clear we didnt find out for some time and were imaging the worst because no language other than Thai was spoken and noone was available to translate. I know the odds are small, but knowing that, but not anything much else, wasnt in any way comforting last Wed night. They need a proper plan, not just go to the 4th (3rd) floor.

Room Tip: try not to have a ground floor room - too noisy with passers by and the pool
